Bagelicious Café Ventura — Restaurant in Ventura

I was recommended this place by someone else and was looking forward to it, but unfortunately was severely disappointed. Overall this place is overpriced, tastes bland, and can't even get orders right.

I ordered a bagel breakfast sandwich (meat, egg, cheese), 5 other bagels (plain, rainbow, everything, and 5-cheese jalapeno), and 3 sides of cream cheese. It ended up being $47 somehow, not sure how that math works. I really regret not asking for a receipt because with the bagel sandwich being $9 that makes the other 5 bagels and 3 cream cheeses being around $35, which is insane. I could at least understand if it was all specialty bagels, but one was plain and one was just a regular everything. On top of the extreme prices, they couldn't even get my order right. I asked for two of the 5 cheese jalapeno bagels and instead they gave me one and some random green bagel. The receipt was right, so I'm not sure how it happened. I was the only person in the restaurant too, so it wasn't like they mixed my order up with another one. The bagels themselves are not good at all, they're also not cut despite the high price. The bagels were doughy, but dry at the same time somehow. I brought these bagels back for a group and not a single person had anything good to say about the place. Even the cream cheese didn't taste good, which is somehow impressive.

I've lived in this county for 25+ years and this is one of the worst places I've ever eaten. Even Starbucks has better bagels for 1/3 of the price. You're better off going to Bagel Rock which is just...

"Recently, I decided to give Bagel Café in Ventura a try following a less than satisfying experience at another bagel joint. Situated in a small shopping center off Main Street near CMH Hospital, this cozy café requires accessing from the back as there's no access on Main Street. While the parking lot is decent, it tends to get busy during the week.

The café itself is on the smaller side, offering a few tables outside on a quaint patio and a handful inside. Their breakfast and lunch menu out feature A variety of absolutely delicious looking bagel sandwich options.

What sets Bagelicious Café apart is their commitment to freshness—all their bagels are made in-shop daily, along with their cinnamon rolls and other baked goods. I opted for a four cheese, jalapeño, everything sourdough bagel with cream cheese and lox, and it was an absolute delight. The gentleman assisting me was incredibly helpful, explaining the full menu and emphasizing the freshness of their bagels. My bagel was toasted to perfection, enhancing its flavor.

In addition to their mouthwatering bagels, they offer a wide assortment of coffee drinks. The pricing was fair, considering the quality and speed of service.

I stopped by Bagelicious Bagels on a Saturday morning, and let me tell you, this place is special. From the moment I walked in, the service was incredible. Even though it was my first time, it felt like I was visiting an old friend who just so happens to make some of the best bagels around.

I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything five-cheese bagel, along with an iced caramel macchiato, both were absolutely amazing. The bagel had the perfect balance of crunch and chew, with that extra indulgent touch from the cheese. And the coffee? The perfect pick-me-up to start the day.
