Himalaya is by far, one of the best restaurants in Ventura. The service is incredible - thoughtful, kind, efficient. Everyone knows exactly what goes into the food or can easily find out, which is helpful if you have food allergies or sensitivities. The environment in the restaurant is just lovely. So serene. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Himalaya has done everything possible to make ordering and picking up food easy and safe - I can tell they care about safety in these difficult times and so I'm more than happy to support them. When a restaurant shows me they care, that makes me feel good.
Now the food? It's delicious. Sometimes I think I could eat nothing but food from Himalaya for the rest of my life. I love that it is Indian, Nepali, and some Tibetan food. Truly, food of the Himalayan region. Everything is exquisite. Some of my favorites are the Gurung bread, Chicken Tikka, Sherpa Fried Rice - but really you can't go wrong no matter what you choose.
I would recommend Himalaya to anyone and everyone. Please support this...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I spontaneously visited this restaurant tonight and were completely blown away by the exceptional experience. The service was outstanding, attentive, kind, and welcoming. As first-time guests, we were delighted with a complimentary lentil soup, 10/10, which warmed us perfectly on a chilly evening. We started with handmade samosas, the most authentic and delicious we’ve ever had, truly perfect. For our main course, we enjoyed butter chicken and paneer with garlic naan. The portions were generously large, and both dishes were phenomenal, with no flaws to note. For dessert, the rice pudding was simply divine. The atmosphere was relaxing, enhanced by a charming ticker board displaying cute quotes. We regret not taking photos but will definitely return to capture the experience next time. The staff provided convenient take-home boxes, and we’re excited to enjoy the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. This place is a gem, and we can’t wait...
Read moreI felt like this place was a hidden gem. It was off the main area by a small distance, but still drew a busy night. You got a mix of customers from, single, date night, and family. Atmosphere and plaxe3was pleasantly decorated with culture. We always love Himalayan food. I loved how they incorporated Nepal and Bhutan photos and stories in their menu. It brought memories back to my trip there. Life changing trip it was. Anyway, the food was delicious! We ordered the meat lovers set for 2, $45. It comes with 2 main dishes, naan, rice, vegetable curry, lentil soul, chutney of some sort, and dessert! Plus we ordered two tall bottles of beer so we were more than full but very satisfied. We had chicken marsala and a lamb dish. Lamb dish was a little too salty for me but my husband loved it, so really depends on your taste bud. If i were in this neighborhood more often, i would like to come multiple times to try their many other delicious...
