Main Street Tacos 2 — Restaurant in Vernon Hills

Great little place to grab affordable and tasty tacos. We’ve been here twice in the last two weeks and tried a few. All of the tacos we tried were dressed traditionally with onions and cilantro.

Cabeza - super juicy with nice flavor. Would recommend.

Steak- our favorite, flavorful and cooked to retain the moisture of the meat but still give you a slight char on the meat

Barbacoa- okay, but honestly lacking some flavor. Maybe a touch of salt would help? TBH, I have never really liked barbacoa, always found it lacking in flavor every place I’ve tried it.

Chorizo - my husband liked it, but I haven’t tried it yet. Come back for updates.

Seeing all the reviews about the Lengua tacos, that will be among the next we try.

Salsa- pretty good, but super watery. Pairs really well with the tacos.

Guacamole- okay, lacking in flavor. Turns too quickly.

Chips - not worth ordering. They don’t taste homemade or fresh. But, chips aren’t a deal breaker for us.

Overall- two time in two weeks says a lot, so this is definitely on our go-to list for...

Delicious! Even the small details of rice and beans are very tasty. There's a hint of smokiness to the rice and the beans are anything but bland. The meat was tender and the onions and cilantro fresh. For the tripa we were asked if we wanted it soft or crispy, we liked the crispy. The masa for the gordita is great texture and thickness, not dry at all. Salsas are all tasty and fresh. Hubby wishes the habanero was a little thicker like the green sauce but I liked it. If I could leave 0 stars I would. They made my food wrong and when I called to let them know I just wanted another one made right, the girl told me I was wrong and she made it the right way. Such terrible customer service, even if I was wrong she could have been a little more customer oriented about it, we spend a lot of money at this place for them to not even remake my 8 dollar burrito.
