I'll just come right out and say it - the steak salad at La Tabla is a 12 out of 10, and I'm currently petitioning to have my taste buds bronzed after experiencing such culinary perfection. When this glorious entree arrived at my table, I'm pretty sure I blacked out from pure gastronomic bliss for a few minutes.
The perfectly seared steak could cure blindness with how utterly stunning it looked atop the crisp greens. Each bite was a multilayered flavor explosion - the rich beef complemented by just the right amount of creamy blue cheese, crunchy pecans, and tangy vinaigrette that made my mouth party like it's 1999. I found myself uncontrollably grunting like a man who just won the eat-off on Man vs Food.
Basically, this steak salad roused feelings deep within me that no salad has any right to invoke in a human being. It was a spiritual experience, transcending mere "food" and becoming edible nirvana. If I died right after consuming it, I'd haunt that restaurant just so I could experience those flavors forever in the afterlife.
The stellar service and ambiance were just bonuses at this point - I could have eaten that salad surrounded by squealing hogs in a barn and still left a satisfied person. All I can really say is rushrushrush over to La Tabla immediately if you haven't already been lucky enough to bask in the glory of their steak salad. Just be sure to unbuckle your belt a few notches first, because you're about to meet your delicious...
Read moreMy parents and I are strict vegetarians, and knowing we were visiting Vero for the afternoon, we're concerned about our options, especially when it came to avoiding the corporate chains along Highway 60.
Finding a Google review for La Tabla, we raced to make it before they closed. At 2:50 a Saturday afternoon, as they were putting away equipment and cleaning the kitchen, we stormed in hoping that at the very least we could get some food to go...
Well, we didn't, we got so much more!
All menu options were open, and the owner Santiago, took time to answer all questions regarding ingredients, including the sourcing!
The open kitchen allowed us to watch as our meals were "created" and then served to us without a grudge or sideways glance, although they we're staying open after closing hours for us.
The Tempeh was incredible and the Acai bowl was a full meal unto itself. We also had their incredible Banana bread and a vegan cookie. Everything was beyond spectacular!!!
Even better than the food was the intense passion displayed for food and nutrition by the aforementioned Santiago. His knowledge of, and care for, his customers was so clear as to be stunning and awe inspiring.
This restaurant could and would be a success anywhere among any competition, those finding the opportunity to sample it in Vero should be grateful to the gods of food. For this is truly a temple and sanctuary of...
Read moreI'd been wanting to try this place since I read about it last week. During a break in working through some unexpected health issues with a loved one at the nearby medical facilities, I came in for a quick lunch when my loved one was stabilized, and feeling much better. I hadn't eaten for 15 hours, since the night before and wasn't sure what else was in store for the day. I opted for the closest place for something fast with whole food ingredients to keep my strength up and my wits about me. I felt I made people uncomfortable with my unshowered, disheveled, mentally scattered appearance, but I didn't really feel like explaining about it at all to strangers at that point. I probably asked way too many questions about the menu for the simple dish I was ordering, which I'm sure made me seem even more weird. The salad I had was really delicious and nourishing, and helped me get through the rest of the day. I hope to go back under more leisurely...
