Chive — Restaurant in Vero Beach

I ended up ordering online from this place last time we were in Vero (5/22/21). The online system hung so it told us the order was placed but never told me when it was ready. When we got there, there was a sign on the door saying they were limiting hours because of a labor shortage. That tells me they either aren't paying enough or aren't treating employees well. If I'd known that ahead of time, I'd have gone elsewhere. I requested for them to leave the sour cream off my veggie burrito. It was full of the stuff. No napkins in the bag. No utensils for Husband's mac and cheese or my salad. No one asked when I picked it up and there weren't any visible dispensers (unless they were behind the clump of maskless guests huddled around the register). When he finally got a fork from another restaurant days later, Husband said the mac and cheese was delicious. My wrap did have good seasonal vegetables on it, but would have been better without the glob of goo I didn't want.

Wow, a rude response from the Owner to top it off? Clearly they aren't fans of their customers either. Being that defensive and rude to strangers online is telling. Saying you don't want people to come back and they aren't welcome?

Seems a lot of restaurants and retail think that minimum wage and irregular schedules are their normal so everyone should be happy to get it even if a not-small percentage of line cooks died in a pandemic last year.

I had been excited to find vegan food, but the staff didn't make it vegan, so not going back isn't a real loss. When we are there last time we were in Vero, the service was better.

The owner getting so rude and irate over simple observation is another reason to find another place to eat in Vero. Yikes....

We went to Chive last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were very excited about trying a new restaurant and unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. From the start the girls behind the counter that were serving the food were not helpful whatsoever. This concept of build your own at Chive was new to us and we got no help. They stood there almost aggravated with every question we would ask. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. The chicken was taken out of a container and thrown cold on salad. I ordered grilled veggies , these were made fresh but had some like old bay seasoning put all over them that made them to spicy to eat. Also ordered the vegan chili which tasted like it had a gallon of liquid smoke and hard pieces of what tasted like Tofu. The ingredients said beyond burger and it definitely wasn't beyond burger in it. My friends ordered the steak fajita tacos and the meat was put in cold and the soft shell not cooked. Definitely not what you would expect. The other thing that left us speechless was the cook was standing on the stove in a open kitchen changing some kind of vents or something. Definitely something you would think that would be done after hours. We will never be back. I would think for a drink this restaurant...

This place is a complete scam and isn’t worth even trying. I came here in a date to try out vegan options and have had a horrible time. The place is horribly lit and has terrible service. As I went through the line to create my plate the workers all looked and acted miserable. The little girl that took my order always responded with attitude as if it pained her to do her job. The portion sizes for price paid is also ridiculous. I paid a rough total of about 35$ for two plates of maybe 3 or 4 bites of food and a side of chips and salsa that the airheaded workers wouldn’t have gave me if I hadn’t asked about. It also just so happened to be the second time she had forgot someone’s food that day as well.
