When 12 friends wanted to go out for Italian food, I suggested Vincents. I mistakenly ordered a salmon dish. Never order fish in an Italian restaurant. The menu stated it was cooked in a white wine caper sauce and that sounded good. When it came, the fish was DRENCHED in cherry tomatoes, and I mean completely covered. There were more cut up tomatoes on my plate than anything else. First of all, seafood and tomatoes don't go together. Sure tomato sauce is great on lasagna, or pasta, but it's too strong and absolutely ruins a seafood dish. To be fair, I did try a bite of the salmon, but there was no salmon taste thru all those tomatoes. It was awful. What happened to the white wine caper sauce? It was a tomato dish, not a seafood dish. Tomatoes on steriods for $28.00. Yuck! I sent the entire dish back. The waitress was nice, she took it back without question and I ordered a personal pizza. I should have just skipped the meal completely cuz the pizza was nothing great either, not much flavor. Brought most of it home, but will def have to doctor it up if I'm going to eat it. Others said their meal was just "OK". No one raved about it. There are much better Italian restaurants in town. I'll probably never go back and I certainly won't suggest it to friends. They wanted to go to Vics, and we probably would have been better...
Read moreI've been going here for about 25 years. I have always loved their food and it did not disappoint this time. However, there are several things that made this visit a disappointment. First of all, charging an extra 4% for credit cards is ridiculous in this day and age. Nobody carries cash and credit card companies have always been charging for the use of credit cards so this isn't something new. To have 11 people and know how much cash you need to bring is just not realistic. They've already up drink prices almost everywhere to make up for rising food cost. Secondly, there is a really bad sewage smell in the second dining room. It is simply overpowering at times. If you want to pay close to $40 for a large pizza that is very good, then this is your place. If you're trying to eat affordably and not have every dime squeezed out of you then this is a hard pass. As far as the sewage smell,...
Read moreAfter decades of patronizing Vincent's, we visited tonight to find an unannounced change of the most petty variety. Vincent's has decided that they're going to pass on credit card merchant fees on to their patrons. It now appears as a line item on your receipt. Yuck.
I understand that prices are on the rise and everyone is feeling the pinch, but just raise the prices on the menu. That way I know what I'm paying up front. We already have to account for a 20% tip, 7% sales tax. Add in 4% for a "non-cash fee" and the cost of your meal is now 31% greater than what you see on the menu. Yeesh.
Shoveling the cost of doing business onto customers as hidden fees is just gross. It's 2022. Stop pretending that it's the 1960s. As sad as it makes me to say this, we won't be back. I won't patronize businesses who are so petty toward their customers.
Good luck, it's been great. We'll...
