Jason's Deli — Restaurant in Victoria

Soooooo sloooooowwwww. Dine-in is at least an hour because you wait so long. Doesn’t make a difference if your sandwich is cold cuts or grilled…you’re gonna wait. Salad bar is the only time you don’t wait.

Typically food is amazing! It has started to be an issue when I order carry-out (so I don’t have to wait) because that they seem to make it as soon as the order is placed and not closer to the pick-up time. I think this because the avocado has browned on the edges (middle is usually still green, so I know they used fresh when they made it) and what was hot chicken is now warm, if not room temperature aka cold, chicken. I order the manager special with a Santa Fe chicken sandwich, chips, and a fruit cup with dip. When the sandwich is hot, it’s amazing! I’d get it everyday if it wasn’t so expensive. When it’s a seventy degree room temperature sandwich, it is not. Plus with the avocado on it, I can’t simply throw it in the microwave to warm it. It’s either a cold sandwich or browned avocado…which is not visually appetizing.

Mac and cheese is hit and miss, usually a miss so I stopped ordering it. Strawberry shortcake (even though they use angel food and not a biscuit)is worth the splurge. Delicious and keeps well since it takes me multiple days to it finish it. I don’t know what’s in the fruit dip but I wish every store everywhere sold it….I’d eat way more fruit.

Employees are great. Atmosphere is muted and content….not crazy loud, not sitting on top of each other but...

Ok now let's start from the beginning. I ordered a sandwich 🥪 with chips and drink. My drink of choice was tea. Well first recieved my tea and took a sip straight away cause they are notorious for giving unsweetened tea. Tea was horrible, tasted as if it had soap 🧼 in it,,,had my cousin taste it and she said it had an awful taste that she detected as well. So then when the cacawate 🥜 came to the window we told her about the tea, she stated to us,"well we don't drink the tea and with the water boil we flushed the system ".. Soooooo they are serving nasty tea water to customers??? Ok now get ready,,,yep,,,it about to go from bad to WORSE... Window server came with my food and then we left. I preceded to open my box which had my sandwich , wouldn't you know it wasn't made right,,,,ok they didn't put lettuce like I requested,,,finished one half and preceded to start on other half, took one bite then noticed something wierd in my sandwich 🥪. Yep, look at pictures, says it all. A BUG. So Victoria know this if you get a item from this Jason's deli, it might come with a 🐛...

The prices are a bit too high for what's given, anytime I order for pickup something is always shorted from the order, and there is no real consistency in what's given. One day there might be a lot of one topping and the next there will be almost none. This happens every single time I go to this location. Today I paid $9 for a salad and got 1/4 chicken breast and 1 strip of crumbled up bacon in it. Elsewhere you actually get a real meal for that price. Management needs to step in and oversee things so paying customers aren't getting ripped off like this. If any are wondering, I've had a salad from this place that had so much sand and dirt in it that it was gritty and crunchy. No this it's an exaggeration, it's the truth. My salad had more sand in it than the beach. beware this place.

Update: A year after this review, nothing has changed. I purchased a $12 sandwich which claimed to have 1/2 pound meat (yes I understand that's before cooking) and got it home to find it had maybe 1/20th lb of meat. Please, FIRE your managers and hire people that can train the employees what...
