I used to work at Art's Quality Bakery in Gary, Indiana. Family owned and operated as well. That little corner bakery had the best bakers on the planet! If bakeries were rated at that time it would have earned a 5 star rating easily and consistently. I never heard any complaints from customers, ever! When I moved to Chicago, it took a long while to find a bakery that came anywhere near Art's. When I moved to Villa Park, I went to the nearest hardware store a d I found this little bakery. I went in and found what I thought no longer existed. Doughnuts that melt in your mouth and that smell that took me back to Art's. Everything has that flavor. Read moreAfter a recommendation from the coffee shop owner next door, my boyfriend and I came here to grab some pastries. The owner next door recommended the “almond square thingy” (someone please tell me what this is, it was AWESOME), and we also ordered a huge chocolate donut with sprinkles — the fluffiest donut ever which had no right being as tasty as it was — and a double chocolate donut. The customers in there were clearly regulars and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Plus, for all we got, our total was under $5! WOW. Today the man who put my order together and gave me my change moved on to the next customer without sanitizing his hands. Yes he used the tissues to grab the product from the shelf but he leaves them in the box. That's not sanitary. He also sets them on the counter before putting them in the box. That does not give you a good feeling about what your going to eat. You should always wash your hands after handling money between customers. Especially in the covid world we are...
