5 Stars - A Hidden Gem with Heart and Flavor
I called ahead to Taco Villa to ask if they serve Huevos Rancheros—my wife had never tried Mexican breakfast before, and I wanted to introduce her to something authentic. Although it wasn’t on the menu, they immediately said they’d be happy to make it for us. That level of customer service was impressive from the start.
When we arrived, we ordered the Huevos Rancheros, a chicken tamale, and Horchata. Let me just say this: we’re an all-organic family—no preservatives, no pesticides—and this food tasted clean, fresh, and homemade. We couldn’t believe how light and energized we felt after eating. No sluggishness, no food coma—just real, honest food made with care.
We asked about the ingredients and were thrilled to learn that they don’t use preservatives and everything is made fresh. That’s rare to find in a restaurant. After the meal, my wife went to the register and spoke to one of the sons working there. He told us the restaurant is owned by his mother and run by the whole family. He smiled and said his mom “just can’t stop cooking,” so they turned it into a business. You can taste her love in every bite.
When we got there, the place was empty, so we chose to sit outside to hopefully attract attention—and it worked. People started coming in after seeing us enjoying our meal. That’s how good the vibe and food are.
We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. It’s rare I feel urgency to return to a restaurant, but this is one of those places. Everything—from the service to the quality of ingredients to the flavor—was outstanding. Highly recommend Taco Villa to anyone who wants food made with passion...

From the reviews, I couldn't help but spot how many people mention tamales so I figured, "Why wouldn't I do their dozen tamales for $30 deal?" I ordered half and half, but I found myself with only one type, which wasn't a big deal since this could easily become routine.
And so I gave their Steak tacos and tamales a shot. Their tamale casing is in a corn husk, which is what you could expect from any other Mexican restaurant. Depending on the preparation, you can easily find the masa zhuzhed up alongside the husk. These guys were incredibly clean with it, and there wasn't any mess.
Both their tacos and tamales were honestly a hit for me. The sliced up limes unfortunately didn't do the steak tacos any justice in cutting through the beef, but the tomatillo sauces from the tamale as well as it being laced over the tacos was another story in its own right. These guys have it down and can hold themselves together.
Parking's pretty tight around here, as there are a few spaces right outside of the restaurant, but I'm willing to bet the convenience store across the street would be willing to lend a few spaces for...
Read moreIf you’re not eating at Taco Villa in Villa Park, IL, what are you even doing with your life? Seriously, these are some of the best Al Pastor tacos I have ever had! They were so good, I almost proposed to them. The flavor was out of this world—I'm pretty sure the chef has a direct line to the taco gods.
But wait, there's more! The real MVPs were the dynamic duo of the owner, Ivan, and his charming mother. From the second I walked in, it felt like I had crashed a family party (in the best way possible). Ivan greeted me like I was the prodigal son returning home, and his mom doted on me like I was her favorite nephew.
At one point, I half-expected them to hand me a plate of leftovers to take home and start knitting me a sweater. They were so attentive, I’m convinced Ivan’s mom has superpowers. I haven't felt that loved since the last time my grandma slipped me a $20 bill when no one was looking.
So, if you want a taco experience that’s part culinary delight and part heartwarming sitcom, head over to Taco Villa. Just be warned: you might never want to leave. I’m still waiting for Ivan’s mom to show up with...
