Thai Basil is hands down our number one spot to eat in Villa Rica! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We especially love the pho! My go-to is either the chicken or beef, Mama loves the same, and Dad always gets the shrimp pho.
For appetizers, it’s sushi and poke all the way, Dad enjoys the poke while Mama, my baby, and I go for the sushi every time. We usually order the California Roll (or something just like it!), Dynamite Roll, and Volcano Roll. Each one hits the spot!
One fun and memorable moment was when Dad ordered the poke, and Mr. Kong came by and told us about a special organic wasabi root sauce they had. It’s so much fresher than the store bought kind. We all tried it, and whoa! it was a kicker! Super flavorful, fresh, and definitely strong if you eat too much too fast! We really appreciate that extra touch. It showed how much they care about their food and their customers.
Speaking of great surprises, on our last visit, we tried their newly imported beers. One of them, called Orion, is from Japan, it was especially smooth! My Dad kept commenting on how good it was. My mom doesn’t usually drink, but she was so curious from Dad’s reaction that she gave it a try and she liked it! I ended up ordering another round for them. Then there was another beer, Beerlao (Beer Lau), my parents loved that ine too! According to my parents, it was smooth and easy to enjoy. It was a fun and relaxed moment seeing everyone enjoying themselves.
And we can’t say enough good things about Julia, our absolute favorite waitress! Her energy is so warm and welcoming. It’s like being taken care of by family. She’s consistently kind, attentive, thoughtful, and always greets us with a smile that instantly lifts the mood. Her presence adds so much to the dining experience, and it truly wouldn’t be the same without her. I always request to sit in her section because she makes every visit feel special. Thai Basil is lucky to have her, and so are we!
Seeing Mr. Kong is always a highlight. He and his wife run the restaurant with so much heart, and it truly shows. Mama always says they make a great team, and she’s absolutely right!
The restaurant vibe is calm and peaceful, with an aesthetically pleasing Asian-inspired atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable for the quality, service, and experience. Thai Basil is a gem, and we can’t wait to try their other spot, 202 Bangkok Thai and Sushi Bar...
Read moreTalk about tasty!! I've been a huge fan of pho for years but traveled to Smyrna, Marietta, even Atlanta to get any. Wish I had known about this place ages ago! It's a little hidden gem that some might call "a hole in the wall" due to it's size but in my experience, the hole in the wall places have the best food & friendliest staff! We ordered to go:drunken noodles,no meat, heat at level 2. And Pho beef, heat level 2. Level 2 reminds me of hot salsa at popular Mexican restaurants (nothing to do with taste but gives you an idea of the spicy levels). It's a perfect choice for the noodles! The Pho was seriously tasty & broth was a little bit sweeter than what I'm used to. I wish they had just a few more veggies to go in their Pho & I was disappointed with the to go packaging, otherwise I'd have rated it a 5. The noodles were separated from the broth which helps with bloating but it means they clumped together in the container. Thankfully they spread back out once placed in the broth. Part that I couldn't agree with is the meat being placed in the broth so by the time I picked the order up & got it home to eat, the beef was way overdone & tough. Most pho gets cooked at the table by the broth so it's probably perfect when dining in. Just means the next time I order to go I'll ask to have it separated & add some veggies. Overall, again, SUPER tasty & I'll...
Read moreWife and I came hear a while back. This could be a few years. It was smaller then only occupying one store front. The food was excellent, Pho, and the prices reasonable. We went again tonight. Very happy to see that they have expanded. But some immediate disappointments: 7 dollar miller lite and 8 dollar dos xx. This is villa Rica, not downtown ATL. Wine by the glass 10 to 18 dollars. I get it, you make margins on alcohol but that's no reason to rob people blind. Tom Yum soup 15 dollars. I was told its a large portion but why not offer it for one person. Imperial Palace in Hiram is 8 bucks for a decent sized portin Sushi....12 dollars for 3 pieces of salmon sashimi?, 10 dollars for tuna nigiri? 5 dollars a piece? Come on, that's a crime Appetizers. no fresh rolls and other items are extremely expensive. Ordered steamed dumplings at 10.95 expecting 6, 8, or even 10 dumplings. We got 4 pieces of what can only be described as Shumai. They were good. but that's 4 bucks a piece.
The positive Pho, Ramen, and Poke are reasonably priced. Ramen was great Poke was also very good.
Summary. Some items are obscenely overpriced. Especially Alcohol, Appetizers and Sushi. The place was very busy which speaks to the quality of the food. But the prices are very discouraging especially for the type of food and the fact...
