Hangry City Grille and Spirits — Restaurant in Violet Township

ORIGINAL REVIEW - 2/2020 I have been to Hangry City on several occasions and have enjoyed each visit except for the very short one I made tonight. Tonight my family of 6 sat down and waited for almost 10 minutes without being acknowledged, so we left. The restaurant was busy and it looked liked only two servers were working so I understand it could take a few minutes for us to be waited on. My own experience waiting tables taught me that in this situation I needed to tell the table I would be with them in a few minutes. One server walked right past us twice without speaking to us. Although we have enjoyed the food at Hangry City and will try to visit again when they aren't busy, this was poor service. I left three stars because of the good experiences we had on other visits.

UPDATE - 2/3/2021 The review below was originally posted about a year ago and I have been back to Hangry City on several more occasions since then. Each of the visits has been positive with the food always being great and the service very good as well. I encourage everyone to give our local restaurants second chances if you have a bad experience. I find that it's less about whether mistakes are made and more about what the establishment does to improve. The owner of Hangry City reached out to me when she saw this review and seemed sincere in her desire to know what we had experienced and whether they could improve! I am upgrading my rating...

I’m not normally one to complain, and I will preface by saying I worked in the service industry for 5 years in college/graduate school so I understand that things happen. However, we have given this place several tries, as we like to support local places and live here in Pickerington. Every time they have missed the mark on several things, and after this last experience, it will be the last. They can never seem to keep up with the (smaller) amount of tables they have, there is always a long wait because the service is so slow. Then, when you are finally seated, prepare to wait another hour (or more for your food), “no more coffee” to warm up the coffee that was served cold, “out of milk” to refill our daughters drink, no apology for the terrible service or for being out of everything and the wait on everything. If you ask for something you need for your food, (hot sauce, syrup, even a refill for that matter) prepare to wait another 20 mins while the server does everything else before bringing it to you, for the food you already waited an hour for. In summary, customer service is beyond terrible. Don’t waste your time (or money). Honestly mind blowing how bad the customer service is and how it is ran.. a let down...

We had a very unfortunate 1st time visiting this restaurant. The 2 of us took the last table available and ended up being outside in total sun, no umbrella, but figured we could tough it out. Waitress extremely pleasant and waited the tables efficiently. An HOUR after we had been seated, we were told our food order must have been accidentally pushed back during the chaos of the evening rush, and she would take 20% off our bill. We were past hungry and feeling kinda yucky from the sun but agreed to wait. Another 10-15 mins. later, our sliders arrived, an entire hour after we had put our order in.. We ordered 3 sliders a piece, no pink, you guessed it, they were pink. Complained to the waitress, and she took 50% off our meals, we took half of them home to cook ourselves. The fries were too salty, and the burger itself needed salt. The outside tables need more shade , 6 tables with only 2 of them having umbrellas, the sun was setting so it was shining under the overhang making it very uncomfortable.
