I'm sharing my Yelp Review here: We've only had Greek Star a couple of times. The first time we went was when we moved to Pickerington, about five years ago. We thought the food was just okay then and decided to try it today again. We ordered a regular gyro and feta fries and a regular gyro bowl with lemon chicken soup. Everything was little to no flavor, except for the feta fries. The feta fries were the best food item we've had so far. There was no lemon flavor in the chicken lemon soup. There was no flavor in the Tahini sauce (the cucumber sauce that's normally on gyros). I could have cooked a lot better. Please update your recipes Greek Star. I know you can do better. Play with those spices, please! Also, I know that inflation has caused prices to go up everywhere. However, if you're not making quality food, then you shouldn't be charging around $13 for a lunch special. The lunch specials are more expensive than the dinner menu! Even though the lunch specials are combo meals, and the dinner items are not... You shouldn't be up-charging for lack of quality and unbundling dinner items from combination plates. Greek Star's best and only quality is in their service from what I've seen. The worker I met today was very attentive, polite, and prompt. Lunch came out only a minute after the estimated time it would be ready through the Toast's phone app. We probably won't be back again anytime soon, maybe in another five years or so, when hopefully the quality...
Read moreThe decor was very pleasant and the tables were clean. There is a glass case with all of the deserts displayed. Full bar and plenty of parking. The menu was plain but clear with explanations of what everything is.
Service was excellent. The wait staff and bus staff very friendly even though they were busy they seemed to be on top of everything pretty well. I always ask for some detail or two and our waitress got it all correct. I got a kick out of the tiny bells she wore around her ankle. Although in all fairness I don't know if that's a Greek thing or not.
Prices seemed reasonable to me, there was a nice mix on the menu from which to choose from soups, salads, sides, gyros, sandwiches, and dinner entrees. Specialties abounded from kabobs and spanakopita to baklava. Opa!
The Bathroom was nice, clean, well planed out, and well lit, I think this is important.
Food quality was very good, the gyro meat was tender and flavorful. I got the extra large one and that plate was full. The chicken gyro was also excellent. Their version of tzatziki sauce was not the traditional that I would have expected, but it was actually very good. I suspect this change may be due to local tastes. A when in Rome type adjustment. Fries were excellent. Next time I would go for dinner rather than lunch will try something more adventurous. I certainly did not leave hungry.
Overall I liked the Greek Star very much and will definitely recommend it and I...
Read moreWell this place ... first blush.. the condiments tray was stuck to the table.. hmmm? And the 1 waitress.. she was so slow...I almost walked out..even though I was craving gyro....to Zapata's next door. There is NO atmosphere here at all. I guess its the Greek equivalent of a McDonald's.. but waaay slower. I ordered a regular gyro... PROCESSED meat. Not great. Same exact flavor and look as the Gyro meat out of the freezer gyro kit you get at Walmart. And the very stingy meat serving was barely warm when the waitress plopped the plastic basket on the table. The feta fries which cost $2more... were the best part of the meal... only the tablespoon of feta wasnt worth the extra $2. And the baklava which I love was served not JUST COLD BUT FROZEN!! I seriously DO NOT recommend this place. Maybe its better at night when the bar is open and they lower the lights..and you've had a few to many beers. Because at that point who cares what it tastes like and that its frozen as well. Nope this place isnt even worth the 1 star. Dont bother coming here because at least McDonalds replaces a tasteless and cold meal if you tell them. For the EXTREMELY HIGH PRICES of the food stuffs...Save your money and go buy the frozen gyro pack and baklava at Walmart. It's way cheaper and tastes the same...and at home you know it's going to be hot when served...
