I want to start out by saying that the employees were all really nice I just think some were not informed properly on what to watch out for in regards to concerns with the puppies...or at least with the one we wanted to buy.
We Fell in love with a puppy. However, my instincts were telling me something was wrong. He didn't have much energy, not very responsive, pretty much went limp in our arms and when sitting him down he would just lay down. I asked about 5 different employees (while we were visiting with him) if he normally acted this way. The responses I received were....pretty much the same. Example....yes he's just tired. He is in a cage with a couple other dogs that are hyper so he enjoys he's alone time. Etc. Pretty much like everything was normal. My husband and I wanted to buy him but my concern was way more than just a small concern. (Mainly bc I've had this specific breed all my life ) so before We proceeded we asked for his medical records. Before we were given his records another employee which i believe was a manger came over and asked to see the dog. She immediately picked him up and took him to the back. This sparked my anxiety because it was confirming something was wrong. I instinctively watched her take him to the back and get out food to see if he would eat wet food. He did not respond to that so she gave him some sort of stuff out of a tube which she later told us was a booster. After a couple of minutes she came back out and said that this dog could not go home he was hypo. I asked what that meant she said that it meant low blood sugar. She said its been a busy day and he needed rest.
It was honestly a moment for me as I noticed about every employee was standing around our area almost in like a deer in headlights kinda feeling. The other employees tried to make us feel comfortable about the situation and offered that if we were interested that we could put down a deposit on the dog if we wanted to maybe come back the next day to purchase him. I was informed though that if we did put down a deposit of $100 and we changed our mind that we might not be able to get the $100 back. we did not put down the deposit. We left. Walked out to our car in silence. I cried. I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened to that dog if we would not have stopped by to see him. Would he have just slept in that cage all night and went into shock? Possibly died? reason I say that is because after I got in the car I looked up what hypoglycemia meant. So everyone understands why I was very concerned this is some info about it below. It was a very sad and troubling thing to experience. I never want to experience this ever again.
Hypoglycemia in dogs can be caused by a number of underlying conditions or from exposure to certain substances. It results due to glucose being removed from the bloodstream, an inadequate amount of glucose from diet, or low production of glucose from glycogen stores by the liver. ... Poor diet, malnutrition, or starvation.when your dog’s body is deprived of sugar, its main source of energy, his ability to function declines and, in severe situations, loss of consciousness or even death can result.
Low blood sugar is not a disease itself; rather, it is a symptom of an underlying disease or problem. There are many causes of hypoglycemia.
Hypoglycemia can be brought on when puppies are introduced to other stress factors such as poor nutrition, cold environments, and intestinal parasites. Toy breeds are especially susceptible to this problem. Hypoglycemia can also be brought on by fasting combined with rigorous exercise, or by Addison’s disease. Dogs treated for diabetes mellitus are at risk, as well as dogs with severe liver disease, tumors of the pancreas, or portosystemic shunts.
Symptoms If your pet is hypoglycemic, you may notice the following symptoms: Extreme lethargy Muscle twitches Loss of appetite Trembling Incoordination Unusual...
Read moreHello my name is Shayne and I am an owner at this store first of all to people like Jess s how can I reprimand these employees if u don't get their name, how do u expect us to get better if I can't talk to the people giving bad service believe me I am a Christian man and I also have a family so get names and post them for me so that I can talk with my guys. I am so so sorry that u and ur hubby were treated that way it's aweful but even though I am a good man I can't be there all the time and unless it's my gm I can't trust anyone that's jus retail not because of who they but because nonon will do it like me. That's terrible u were treated like that as for the puppy mill and omish breeder roomer that's 100% not true my dogs r bought from usda liscensed breeders who r inspected by that branch. We have recently also been backed at MY store by akc. And provide some kind of reg for most of my dogs. People please listen this is the problem with mas hysteria that one person says something then everyone thinks it's true, lol and it's not. Every Petland is diff some r corporate and other franchise unfortunately some of those franchisees realize they can save money upfront yes by buying these awful mill dogs but it's hurts u with PR and vet bills in long run. I pay a lot of money to make sure my dogs come from the right places and it's hurts me to think people say other wise I even pay over 100$jus in shipping so the unit that brings them to us is heated and cooled so the puppies aren't stressed I have never not will ever buy a puppy mill dog it sounds nasty rolling off the tongue doesn't it guys?? Well that's all I have to say but please if u have a bad Experience let me know please guys and I will be happy to give anyone a tour of my facility at anytime I have nothing to hide and if u think I'm lying about my puppies and I care well then read the Breeder info u people are adults and that's why we spend so much time talking with u guys before u but cause too many people buy these dogs and return them they have a contract that goes with them like anything these days and if u read it like a big boy u will see everything in there including where that dog came from and liniage. So again I am sorry my name is Shayne curnutte and I am not scared of people knowing about my Petland I hemerged countless $ not stooping to the low that is a puppy mill and now that I am making money it is easier to get those good puppies but still very costly but jus u know I have no desire or intention on my puppy buying process. One last thing of course ur going to take a puppy home and spend money if it gets sick there guy. It like a child, would u take ur new infant home and then ask to take it back when it got a cold I think not so people it's a new dnay and age with lots of opinions I am jus asking for open mindedness and ur help to turn this store into a 5 star review if u have a bad employee I want to know about it this many negative comments about my store is not ok and will not be taken lightly thank u to all who commented especially the bad ones ur the most help but don't swear us of jus yet call me let me help if u would like to speak with me call the gm and ask for my # if need be tell him read this review . Read moreAfter several years my son's little blue fish tank finally stopped working....however, the fish were still alive. I went into the store to get something new to put the fish in. A sales woman, Martha showed me all the kids fish tanks and then suggested that since this tank sits in my family room I might like a little "more grown up" fish tank. I was shown several fish tanks with Water fall features. I picked one of these, they really did not cost much more than the kid tanks. Before check out the man at the counter removed everything from the box to make sure all the pieces for the tank and filter system where there and had a sales person in the fish department help me find a plant and even helped me get a couple more fish. The store was out of the color rock that I wanted, but said they would have more the next day.
Sure enough the next day I stopped by and as I walked in the door, I was greeted, welcomed back. I was told that they had received their shippment of rocks and they thought that I should look at all the colors to make sure the color I had requested was the one I really wanted. They were right, I selected a different color rock than the one I had come in for.
My new tank in WONDERFUL....I love it and have had many flattering remarks on how well it compliments the room. It is a grown up small table top tank with a rock water fall at the top. I would never had thought to get this tank if the staff had not been so helpful in finding out what I needed what it was going to be used for and where it was going. I loved that they made sure I had everything I needed to set it up right when I got home. I have been back to the store since for Fish Friday to add to the tank....and to think at one time I was just waiting for the fish to finally die so I could get rid of the tank. I love my new tank and new fish.....will be going back for every pet...
