We frequently go to Cracker Barrel locations while traveling. This is our local location. Unfortunately the food was just OK. The biscuits were hard on the bottom like they were either overcooked or sitting for a while. My dad couldn't even eat all of his biscuits and gravy, I only ate the tops of mine. The waitress never checked on us except to bring the bill where we expressed to her about the biscuits and she said that's how they are. I then told her 2 days prior I had been to a location in Staunton, Va and the biscuits were fantastic there.
Update after Cracker Barrel provided a voucher for a free meal. I decided to give this location a second chance only to be once again disappointed by the service and food.
I arrived at 7am when they opened. The girl up front had to go get someone to seat me from the back. I was the first one in the restaurant side. Shortly after I gave my drink order a couple was seated and they obviously new the server and were familiar to him. I finally placed my order and informed him I would be adding a to go order when I was almost done and he decided to take both orders at that time. As I sat there I noticed the folks who came in after me receiving their order and not me ( I ordered a simple breakfast). Being not happy I finally got my servers attention and asked that both my orders be to go. A few minutes past and he brought both orders out which indicated to me he placed both at the same time instead of placing the to go order later so it would be hot and fresh for my mother I was taking it to. I got home (5 minutes away) to cold food and way undercooked bacon and burnt French toast with my order, I couldn't even eat the French toast as it was hard and tasted nasty. I even microwaved it at home.
I didn't receive a receipt at check out so I called and the manager who was rude once I explained what happened and said if I wanted a copy I'd have to come back and pick one up. She explained the meal had been compted and insinuated that was what I was trying do again. First of all, when I contacted Cracker Barrel corporate about my last issue I was clear I wasn't seeking compensation and I just wanted the issues with this location addressed.
Obviously none of those have been done. We travel a few times a year by car and love and enjoy the food and service at many other Cracker Barrel locations. Ths one just isn't up to par...

I wanted to let you all know that your manager at your location on Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach, VA will not handle customer assault the way he should. I had another customer, a grown woman in fact, come up to me yesterday while I was shopping and grab an item I was looking at out of my hands. I told her to please stop and that I was looking at it, but she began to scream at me how "I'm not taking all of them" and wouldn't let go. The insanity only increased tenfold. I called for help several times. It took too long for help to come to me from your staff and while your cashier was great when she did come, when I requested she call the manager over your manager was anything but. I requested he kick her out and I brought up multiple times how he could look at the camera footage and see what really happened, but he openly cringed and just told me how "he wanted to calm everyone down" and he "would talk to her". Talking to her entailed him not reprimanding her at all and letting her continue to be in the store until she was ready to check out. I asked if she shopped there often and how if she did, I didn't want to shop there anymore. He told me how that "it was my decision but her behavior wasn't a reflection on them or what they stood for". Well I believe that by not asking her to leave immediately despite multiple customers witnessing what happened and there being camera footage, you all DO stand for this behavior. We were greeted by a hostess that lacked customer service skills and facial expression.. the responses I received were “yeah” “ok” “😐” We were sat at a table that was very close together to the other occupied tables and was next to the window, where even with the blinds down, the sun was just burning through.. we had just put our order in so we only had waters and one coffee at our table, figured it would be an easy fix. I went to speak to Mary (waitress) about this and after some unnecessary somewhat a hard time conversation, we were able to do the switch. I ordered the BLT chicken sandwich which comes with a good amount of a maple chipotle glaze as I have seen from my past experiences of ordering this. When I received the sandwich, there was 1/4 teaspoon amount of the glaze so I asked the waitress if I could please get more of the glaze since there’s barely any on the sandwich.. Mary brings out a side of maple syrup, I say “this is straight up maple syrup” and she says “yes, that is what comes on the sandwich” which is incorrect. Then she brings out something that looks runnier and tastes exactly like maple syrup but it is still not the correct “chipotle glaze”!!! At this point, I’m tired of going back and forth with this and Mary. My sandwich is dry and getting cold so I decide to speak directly with a manager about this and Mary finally brings out the correct glaze. My problem with this visit is that my options were either settling and being dissatisfied (more than what I already was) or go back and forth with people.
