L.L.Bean — Local services in Virginia Beach

I've been a longterm customer of LLBean for over 50 years. Many of my winter clothes, camping and accessories were purchased online. Since I'm in a wheelchair and over 6'4" tall it's easier to shop online for tall items (greater selection). Usually I'll return items by UPS since when I use my LLBean card for purchasing the returns a free. This recent online purchase involved many items of which two were very difficult to return by UPS due to there size. For an upcoming cross country trip I purchased two extra large sleeping bags that can be zipped together for my wife and I. Unfortunately I didn't take into account the weight and rolling them back up to store them in the bags. Rather than try to wrestle them back into the bags I opted to take them to the local store for return. The store employees were extremely helpfull going out of their way to help me get them from the van into the store. They understood completely the challenges I faced in the wheelchair and refunded my card hassle free. Of course while there I couldn't resist shopping and left with two new additions to my wardrobe. Yes they had a few tall shirts on sale. I couldn't resist. This recent purchase and return experience taught me to stick to my gutt instinct for the future and buy down sleeping bags. They are easier to stuff into the bags and much lighter in weight. 20 years ago my old reliable down bag was claimed by my daughter for her use. Twice before our family has been to Bar Harbor, Maine for vacation and both times we've shopped at the outlet store. Two hours later we'll emerge with new sweaters, shirts, coats, hats, socks and much more. L.L. Bean appears to have better trained associate staff than most hands-on staff in the retail market. I shopped this store initially to purchase two predetermined gifts. I approached one of all busy associates who was placing an order for another customer. She agreed to assist me next. She kept her word and in no time, based on her knowledge of L.L. Bean products, I was in front of a cashier who further provided guidance on shipping and within a very few days my gifts had arrived earlier than expected at their destinations. I chose to browse, being already impressed overall, encountered several other staff with questions, and I ended up completing a bulk of gift purchases before leaving the store. In addition to staff professional courtesy and again knowledge of products (a day of 40 per cent discount was an added plus) I left L.L. I went to this L.L.Bean location in Lynnhaven Mall, the Saturday before Christmas 2021. I was able to find 3 "perfect" gifts, for my family. One item, was $60.00, another $70.00, and the 3rd item was $80.00. I asked the floor salesperson, if anything was on SALE, and she said nothing was on SALE, today, unless you wanted to apply for the stores Mastercard. These items, were marked up substantially. This salesperson was more interested in following a couple of teenagers around, my guess was she was on the lookout for shoplifters. My prediction is that this location, will go out of business soon, due to the fact of their high prices, and it appears that the quality of their clothing items has diminished. Needless to say that I shopped elsewhere, and got very good quality items at a reasonable "sale" price. L.L.Bean needs to rethink their pricing. P.S.
