Donatos Pizza — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

Send help. Completed an order for five wings online. Quoted a time of 7:30 for the pickup. At 731, I walk in. 4-5 families are waiting. Red flag. Several minutes later, still no employee at the front counter to greet customers. More minutes later, an employee brings an item to a customer. He continued to walk past me until I said, hello, I'm here for a Togo order. Employee asked my name, goes in the back, and stays there.

Employee comes back several minutes later to ask a customer a question. Never addressed my order until I said, again, I'm here for a Togo order and requested to know how much longer for the wait. Of course I provided my name and order again. Employee states another 10 minutes. At that point It was 746. At 8pm, I finally received my order.

Prior to receiving my order, another customer was waiting since 7pm, and two others were there before him. When one customer asked for a refund, the manger said refunds are not allowed despite no mention of that anywhere. When asked for proof of this policy, the manager became defensive and basically said that's what ive been. We don't give refunds. When the customer asked about the customer service... Why noone is acknowledging customers or providing updates on orders the manager proceeds to say there's only four people working and one doesn't speak English and he's new.

So are y'all using Google translate bc there's no way anyone thought this employee could effectively manage a day like today without adequate training and a system to address the language barrier. And to top it off, Kitchen Nightmares was playing in the background. Oh the irony! Please get a system that provides accurate pickup times. Don't fire anyone. It will sink the ship. Just...

Being from Ohio (Donatos is an Ohio-based franchise), Donatos has been a staple in the family. I’m so glad to see two Hampton Roads locations - one in Virginia Beach and one in Newport News. One of these locations is visited at least once a week, and the food is always consistent. The pizza is always fresh and piping hot. Our order is never wrong and the staff is always friendly. The atmosphere inside is always very inviting. And the best part about dining in, you DON’T clean up after yourself. Once you are finished eating, you just leave your table and walk away with no tips expected. Even if you wanted to clean up after yourself, there aren’t any nasty trash cans around to do so...which is a plus in my opinion.

If you are looking for food suggestions, you can’t go wrong with their edge to edge thin-crust pepperoni pizza. The pepperoni is cooked to perfection with crisp edges reminiscent of the edges on crispy bacon. Their “Serious Cheese” is self explanatory and seriously cheesy. Their veggie pizza has just the right amount of toppings that don’t overwhelm the cheese on the pizza. Someone in the family has tried almost every kind of pizza on the menu and all have been great. Their signature crust is thin crust and would suggest the same.

We came with my husband 20 min before closing for take out, the guy who placed our order was very patient. He told us how they are making their pizzas, what’s the difference, what kind of pizzas we usually like. Menu is big, so we could use some help to decide) I couldn’t choose between two pizzas, so he offered to make half and half, and it was amazing decision) We got half Chicken Spinach Mozzarella and another half was some other kind of chicken, but o don’t see it in online menu. Anyway, it was delicious. And you could see that veggies were fresh cut, which is not so often with other pizza places) Now I know the difference!)) Atmosphere inside is so cute as well😍 So, I believe we will come back there to dine in one day)!

One bad moment - they forgot to give us dipping sauces for wings. But it’s our fault too, we were so excited of the pizza smell that we didn’t check the rest. So, just check your order before you leave) That’s not a big deal. And I didn’t really like the wings. I think they only baked it, without deep frying, so it’s not really Krispy.. I mean, it depends how you like yours to be done!) Anyway, they deserve 5 stars! Pizza was Yummy🤤 We definitely...
