First of all you wouldn't know it that there is a restaurant back in this area seeing how there are no signs posted from the road. When I entered this restaurant I surveyed the landscape and notice the bright colors and clean interior. There was no one at the desk to greet us unfortunately so we waited to be seated. We were given the chip salsa and white sauce and our drink orders was taken. I ordered the carnitas plate with refried beans rice and corn tortillas. And my wife ordered grilled chicken tacos with cabbage cilantro green onion with queso fresco cheese. Our order seemed to take longer than usual and when we received our order the portion size for the Carnitas plate was a bit smaller then expected. But the grilled chicken tacos we're a sight to see. They filled the whole plate. As I cut into the carnitas I was blown away by how tender they were like fork-tender. For being slowly deep fried for 2 hours prior to serving they really did have good texture. With the corn tortillas I built my own taco and had a hot sauce made with Chile de Arbol which was nice and spicy very fresh flavor seeing how the carnitas didn't have much flavor but when you add the sauce it made the Carnitas pop. At $12.95 I expected a bit more flavor and a little more portions but overall the food was good. I tried one of the grilled chicken tacos and those were outstanding the chicken was flavorful you could taste the green onion and the cilantro the Cabbage was crunchy and a bit sweet it worked really well and the cheese was creamy. We opted for typical Mexican fried ice cream. But was blown away by the portion size of the desert it was in a huge taco salad shell with a giant scoop of vanilla bean ice cream with corn flakes honey whipped cream and chocolate drizzle and to me that was worth the money at $5.99 there was enough there to feed 4 people. So would I try El Taco Loco again... Yes. Would I recommend this place. Yes....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOur beloved 2nd El Taco Loco is closed so we ordered from the original location behind Dennys on Virginia Beach blvd. Unfortunately, I didn't think to take pictures. Let's start off with it was easy enough to order online and I even put in a 20% tip came to 53.00. We ordered Loco Fies, beef tacos (soft and hard) and Buffalo wings. The Buffalo wings were very meaty however not even hot sauce hot and ordered them hot. Tacos were just as served in restaurant. However, chips were a small amount and the salsa and white sauce served with them may have had a couple tbsp in each already small sauce cup. Literally only enough for maybe a handful of chips. Instead I was given a huge amount of their wing dip which no one eats. The Loco fries were a much smaller portion than in restaurant and very little cheese. The biggest problem was I ordered curbside and they were clueless. I called let the lady who answered know I was parked by front door and she said she'd check order then hung up. I called back at time ordered was scheduled to be ready 5 minutes later then I was told I had to come in to pickup. I would have never tipped 8.00 if I had to go in myself. I got out of my truck then an employee brought my order out before I went in. By far worst experience with this restaurant. If they don't reopen here on Laskin I may just take my business...

All was OK until we got our checks and were ready to pay. Another server started loudly inquiring about how much we were under-charged for Clase Azul shots. She also ran to the MGR(owners teenage son Jay) who came over to us and said we would have to pay more, an additional $32 because his server charged us only $15 each, the wrong amount. He said "those are $30 shots each". Not my fault and I couldn't believe he wanted more money from us so I said that that was not right and not the correct way to handle this situation. IMO, teach your server correctly and it will probably never happen again but Jay then said," If you don't pay it, I will take it from the server!". I told JAY that I will pay it and that he WOULD NOT take it from our server, BAD BUSINESS! We paid and left....Jay tried to apologize on my way out the door but DAY LATE, DOLLAR SHORT chamaco. Here is the review that I promised you to let all know what to expect. To all reading this review, know that this is how they treat their patrons and even worse, this is how they treat their Hispanic employees. DEPLORABLE, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS...
