I use to love this place. I recommended it to everyone And was always my choice. Service lacked sometimes but the food was good. Especially the filet. Tonight was different. We went with friends at 6pm . 2 other tables of people were there at this time. We asked about some shrimp to the waiter... he said he would ask the cook if he could make grilled shrimp and randomly complained they had no computer system so it would be hard to ask... we thought weird but ok... we order the nachos..... then he was gone 20 mins and delivered food to others and drinks... we flagged him down he agrees they can accommodate the shrimp order. We order kids meal... (so its been 20 min since they were in not a big deal) we flag him down again to order our meals.... its now been an hr (7pm) then we order our meal... great all Ordered... kids meal comes out... nachos forgot we flag down and he goes and gets them. Ok no big deal... little later nothing out of ordinary food comes out. Except one... we wait to not be rude... then we start sharing food so we can eat.... then we had to get up and get waiter as it was 20 mins or so and all are done eating. He brings last meal... and says its owners fault... however owner didnt bring the other meals... we talk about how that was uncalled for but either way no big deal. We have kids with us and its after 8 so we ask for the check. (Yes 2 hrs) we wait about 10 mins and then kids are tired so we send wives and kids home in one car as we know they had a computer issue.. no problem... 20 min later we cant get our server he is delivering drink after drink and we waive to no avail... we flag the owner. Here is were it gets interesting. Excuse me sir can you help us pay? “Cant you see it is busy in here... “ yes sir we do see that.. but it has been 20 min can we have our bill so we can pay? Even if he has o wrote it down’ “Do you know how stressful It is with no computer system” yes we can understand want us to pay cash my friend said ... a little taken back by the replies given thus far... No response and walks off... I walk up to him as he is serving the drink he had when we got him as our server stands off in a distance watching... and say if we cant pay then we need to go... (thinking eveeyone is gonna have to pay at some point and you cant just pretend we are not there... hand write the bill Or even come over and tell us a time or something... the owner then flips me the bird and says f-you in front of everyone... that may fly with anyone else and anyone who kmows me knows I would call back the next day and pay if it helped... (have had to do it for gas on boat before) and all my wife and I do for the community. To be treated like that vs any common decency. Stress is ok... but to act like that when a common patron wants to simply pay... (could have done cash and even left some extra) so disappointed but at the same time I now see who I was supporting. Too bad... really liked that place. $6000 egg is a great book... may want to read it. Wish you all the best and on top of it ill be back to pay my bill... because its who I am... but I wont be back after that. Take care. I might be the wrong one to have done this too... cant treat people bad when you think you are better then other people in small community. Worst experience I have ever...
Read moreLast night was the second time in the past 2 months that we dined at Havana on a Tuesday night (great buy one get one special). I'm sad to say it will be the last. Last night, just like the previous time, there was only 1 server (she said she was called in last minute after someone quit). She accidentally put my order in wrong and was very apologetic, but it took forever to get my food. When it finally did come, it was served by the manager/bartender, who gave me the stare down while handing me the food like it was my fault. And the food was not good at all. The filet was definitely rare (I ordered medium rare), the potatoes and sauce not flavored well, and the asparagus barely cooked. The quality of the meat also seemed different, and my husband's meal had rice that was undercooked. Well, we thought, at least dessert can make things better. Nope. We ordered the bread pudding, which was supposed to be caramel flavored. That also took forever to come, and was cold. And I'm not talking about the ice cream being cold, I'm talking about the bread pudding itself, which was hard and cold, with no sign of caramel. The most disappointing meal we've ever had there. It appears their staffing issue extends to the kitchen as well. I hate being critical during these times, but also can't spend my money on subpar food and service during...
Read moreHavana’s on Great Neck used to be a premium dinning experience, and now it’s just a shell of its former self. Our Filet’s were burned, the gravy tasted watered down, and the asparagus that used to melt in your mouth, needed a hacksaw to cut into pieces. The Oysters Havana is still good, but even that doesn’t taste quite like it used to. Took my wife there for Valentines 💌 Day, and there were 2 waitresses for a completely packed evening. I’ll give the waitresses credit, and we tipped well anyways, because they were hustling to do what they could, but a dinning experience shouldn’t take over 2 hours from the time you are seated till the time you are ready to go. We waited in every portion of the meal. I’ve been coming to Havana’s since I tried their Oysters 🦪 Havana at the Norva many years ago. The restaurant used to be managed by a dark haired woman and her mother, can’t remember her name, but the restaurant was top quality way back then. We have been returning for years out of habit, even though the service and food are not at the same level anymore, but last night was the last time we will visit. It wasn’t just last night, like I stated above, the restaurant has been in...
