Cross-posted from Yelp:
Was there this past Saturday night with my wife and 2 friends. Our waiter - I believe his name was Alex - was attentive, patient and helpful, but he did make a pretty big mistake. My friend and I ordered the Prime Rib only to find out they were out. Our waiter suggested the Delmonico adding that it was similar to the Prime Rib. The Delmonico is nothing like a Prime Rib. It is a thinner and less tender cut. I ordered mine medium-rare, my friend went for well-done. Mine came out perfectly cooked, my friend's came out a solid medium. After sending it back, it eventually came back medium-well and he made do. My wife and her friend ordered Filet Mignon, my wife also got Loster Tail. The Lobster didn't come with melted butter - had to ask for that. The Filets were ordered medium-rare and medium. Both came out medium-rare. Both ladies ordered a "loaded baked potato" which turned out to mean a little bit of cheese, bacon and sour cream. No scalions, and they had to ask for butter. I should point out that my wife & I believe a good steak doesn't need anything at all added to it. One of our friends likes A1, while the other adds a little salt & pepper. That said, everyone thought their steaks were bland. I like the way the server veggies - steamed and on their own - not swimming in butter like many other places. However, one person's fresh broccoli was cold when it came out, and my steamed asparagus was fairy tasty if a little overdone.
The decor is quite dated as others have stated. It's not at all dingy or dirty, just dated and dark. We were surprised to get the old foil-wrapped butter packets with our bread and baked potatoes. I haven't seen this at a steak house since going to the Sizzler as a kid in the 80's! The bread was standard rolls and sesame sticks - nothing special.
All told my wife and I had 4-beers, a Delmonico, the Filet/Lobster Tail, 1 extra side (the asparagus) and our bill with 20% tip was $117. For the price, I would not return. There is better steak at a better...
Read moreSo we called at 750PM from outside Chix to see what the wait was because Chix was an hour. They said they could seat us immediately. AWESOME! We walk across the street to Black Angus and get seated. The server initially was a little off his game, not bringing water, forgetting what our appetizer was but quickly stepped up his game. The cook time wasn't his fault and that's why he still got his tip. I will say the appetizer we ordered came out in a timely manner and it did taste good, but after that commenced a huge wait.
So from seating time to the time our food arrived was 1 hour. I ordered a 16oz prime rib, my friend scallops and my other friend the bistro steak. The scallops came out ok, the bistro steak, likewise ok. My $37.99 prime rib? Well, it started warm where I initially cut, then I got a cold piece, then a warm. Well, I stuck my finger on the other half I hadn't touched and it was cold to the touch. Waiting 1 hour just to get a cold prime rib? The waiter asks how everything is and I'm telling him, this is cold and I'm told, well, we can reheat it. Reheat? I didn't pay almost $40 to get a prime rib reheated after waiting an hour. Less than half was eaten, cold to the touch, and not even an offer of a discount on an unsatisfactory meal. During the time we sat and waited we watched a party of 10 being comped drinks to remain and wait and even they got up and left. Never once did a manager come around and explain why there was a wait, ask if everything was ok. Nothing. This sort of service is an absolute disappointment and made me regret not just walking out after waiting 45 minutes.
TL:DR - If you want to wait an hour and pay $40 for a cold piece of prime rib, this is the restaurant for you. If you value being served expediently and served a good meal,...
Read moreThe worst service for a $90 bill -ever! The wait to be seated was not bad, but it Took us 2 hours once we sat down to get our food and get out of there, and that might be on the low side. They are lucky their food was great or we would have not wanted to pay our bill. The manager finally brought out our salads after 50 minutes, & our “curtesy bread” after an hour and our waitress seemed to have been the problem. I was only served one coke, and our water wasn’t brought until an hour into sitting down.
My food was wrong and didn’t get my side till we were leaving (which I had to ask for 3 different times) the first time he must have forgotten or thought I was lying because the second time he pointed to my plate and said “there they are...” 🙄 he thought my scallops were my hush puppies - I said “that’s my scallops” and showed him the inside and He STILL didn’t bring them! I asked for a third time while we were still waiting on our to go boxes...when I asked this time he said, “Well it will take 30 minutes to drop them!” I had to get a stern voice and said, ” I paid for them!” I asked for pop corn shrimp for part of my meal and was brought regular large shrimp 🤢and he just said I’m sorry, didn’t offer to fix it or bring the correct thing. Never got them.
Also While we were sitting there 3 other tables got up and left after their drinks were already brought due to waiting so long also! IT WAS SOOOO BAD!!! (PS- they had different waiters though!) Our waitress kept blaming it on the kitchen and the chefs but most tables were being served MUCH faster if not double time.
PS: there is no...
