I've been wanting to check out Jet's Pizza for a couple of years now but didn't really have the normal opportunity because it was waaaay out of the way from where I lived then (Norfolk) and now (Ches). Fast forward to last weekend and I was out in that area of VB fixing some computers and afterwards I popped in on the way home and picked up a pie to go.
First things first, it was pretty darn hot on Saturday and the AC that blasted me when I walked in the door felt great. The location and is a carry out only, there's only a bench to sit on in the lobby while you're waiting for your pie to be made. I didn't bother to look at the menu and just ordered a large pepperoni from the friendly gentleman behind the counter. If I had thought about it I would have asked if there were any specials.
From walking in and making the order to leaving took about 15 minutes. The pizza was prepared on the spot and put in the oven. The ride home was pretty awesome. All cars should smell like pizza!
Once I arrived home I dropped the pizza on the oven and opened her up. I wasn't disappointed. The pizza looked as good as it smelled. I immediately threw 2 slices on a plate and started my dinner. The pie is really good, and I thought it was a nice change of pace from the other corporate chains.
Upon grading the pizza I have the following to say. 1st, the dough was fresh, I could tell it was made that day. The toppings were also liberal. There was plenty of cheese and pepperoni on that pie and both were of premium quality. The sauce was also very good, neither to little or to much. I found the sauce to be fairly neutral being neither to bitter nor sweet.
I finished about 4 slices and threw the rest into the fridge for the next day. When it came time to have another slice I didn't heat it... no no... it was cold pizza time and this pie definitely passed the cold pizza test. My only complaint is minor, and that's the that the pizza, and more specifically the pepperoni was pretty greasy. Not enough to wave off the pie, but there was quite a bit of it in the box.
All in all I really enjoyed Jet's Pizza and next time I find myself in the area again I'll definitely pick up another pie, maybe one of their Sicilian...
Read moreI eat A LOT of pizza. I’ve been to a bunch of local places around Virginia Beach and Norfolk and I must say the taste of this one holds its own.
I drove by this place every day for like the last few years and FINALLY decided to give it a shot. I’m picky and didn’t want my feelings to be hurt if it was bad lol and the kids may mutiny over bad pizza on pizza night!
I’ve only had the Detroit style deep dish so far but it’s definitely tasty and the kids voted to add it to our menu of various pizza places. Lol
I would choose this over Pap John’s and Dominos for sure and probably even over the Hut and Marcos to be honest. Just depends I like specific types and configurations of pizza from different the latter 2. So if I have a specific taste I’d still go there.
The size and dough consistency almost reminds me of what Pizza Hut pan pizza used to taste like in the late 80s and early 90s when they were really staring to make a name for themselves before they went super commercial. Like back when people would go to Pizza Hut as a restaurant and actually eat inside and have birthday parties there. Wow I’m sounding old lol.
The crust is crispy on the edges. The butter topping on the crust is just delicious. The thickness of the dough, the stretching of the cheese and that nice slight crunch you get with every bite is just really a refreshing change from the commercial players.
I will say that the price can be a bit high if you don’t catch a deal. But I’ll gladly pay for quality.
My one critique would be the toppings. We don’t eat pork so sweet delicious crunchy pepperoni is out for us. So we get ground beef and sometimes green pepper. I’d like to see better quality beef toppings rather than the little bite sized nibbles and maybe sliced green peppers rather than diced.
But those are small things. We will definitely be visiting Jet’s again… probably about every 2-3 weeks at least.
Keep up the...
Read moreI am so happy I took a chance and ordered online, from Jet's Pizza. I am tired of the old popular pizza places and wanted a real, good tasting pizza. After reading online reviews, I decided to order. I was not disappointed! Most of the reviews were for the deep dish pizza. I just wanted a round pizza with handtossed crust. Much to my delight, I could choose a crust flavoring. I went with, Turbo, which was butter, garlic and romano cheese on the crust. I also ordered the pizza with extra sauce. The order included 2 orders of wings, one cooked regular and the other well done. I was informed delivery would be at 6:47. At 6:43 my daughter wanted to know where the food was. I told her, they still have 4 minutes! The food was delivered at 6:47 on the dot! The delivery driver followed the instructions I left, to ring bell and leave food by the door. Other places fail that part. When I opened the door to get the food, the driver turned around and said, "Thank you for your order! I hope you enjoy". He said it with such sincerity! I thanked him and said I hope I do! The pizza was amazing! The extra sauce was put on, and the taste was fantastic, not just some tomato sauce. The cheese was plentiful and tasted like fresh mozzerella. The crust was a treat! The wings were cooked to order, my daughter likes hers soft, which was cooked regular. I like my wings with a bit of a crunch and the well done cook delivered that. I have found my new pizza place! Thank you Jet's Pizza. Food was delivered on time, tasted like perfection, delivery driver was courteous and friendly, all instructions were carried out, I can't wait to...
