Kelly's Tavern — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

At first glance, seemed like a pretty normal neighborhood bar and grill. I'm willing to chalk my personal experience up to bad luck, but it was pretty bad. I ordered a beer and Nachos, (with no sour cream). The bartender told me it would only come on the side. When I got the plate, the container was half dumped onto what can be described as nothing but an absolute mountain of nachos. As I begin digging into the pile (post removal of sour cream) I quickly realized these fools had no concept of how to layer nachos. On the bottom of said mountain were a number of burnt tortilla chips. At first I said to myself, where's the cheese? Turns out there were snowball sized melted globs of cheese above the burnt chip layer. Following the cheese was nothing short of a half pulled chicken breast. Above that was a head of lettuce that may have been chopped once or twice. Resting on this whole head of lettuce was an entire jar of olives and an entire jar of jalapenos. This was all stacked on something roughly the size of a salad plate to ensure the unsuspecting diner could not possibly penetrate the mountain without dropping food everywhere. Lastly, The mug of beer I got had a large crack. Overall, the bartender felt bad enough to give me a bill for $4 instead of what should have been $18. I just wanted some damn nachos and went home sadly...

I've been to this place a countless number of times and enjoy myself each time! I'm always served by such an amazing woman with a very welcoming and genuine personality, Yvette! She is by far the most polite and friendliest person ever! I always sit at the bar just to chat with her. She also makes the best drinks! I love the atmosphere here and the food served. There are many great options on the menu that are very reasonably priced! My favorite is the Classic Turkey burger which very much so tastes like a Big Mac. I don't eat beef, chicken, or pork so I am happy that they have turkey and veggie burger options. I also love the fish sandwich that I tried on my last visit. The sandwich was huge and delicious! I also had the Mac and cheese and broccoli with it! Amazing!! I highly recommend this place! It's a great place to just chill and have a good meal! Even if you wanted to chill by yourself, it's an amazing experience!

We have been here several times before, but tonight was just plain bad. The waitress was not good, she was slow, we had to constantly flag her down to get a refill. It wasn't busy & I can see why. She was at the table behind us rolling silverware while she was eating! The music was loud & obnoxious. Constant rap music, management needs to learn how to read the room, this was not your clientele at 5pm. To top the dinner off, while using the restroom a cockroach was crawling on the floor in front of me, papertowels were all over the trash can & floor. Just a total bad vibe & we really have liked it here in the past & live in the neighborhood. Probably won't be back, absolutely know my in laws that were with us will...
