Number 1 Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

I've eaten here several times and everything has been pretty good however I came back this one time because they gave me pancit that was watered down and I didn't like it at all, unfortunately they closed before I could bring it back but I was hungry so I ate some and I still had some left over and I brought it back. When the lady at the counter saw it she said "You ate most of it now we can't give you a refund or nothing!" That was all the money I had! But I wasn't looking for a refund, I just wanted my moneys worth because the pancit there is watered down and bland. The thing is when you buy something for $13 and it's not good, it's truly not satisfying, and being a customer, I shouldn't have to pay for something that is not good! So the next day I went back in No. 1 Chinese Food at Salem Crossing and I asked them if they could just replace the watered down, bland, pancit, with something and told them it just wasn't good! I'm homeless being homeless doesn't mean that I don't have other means to get food but the thing is when I spent the money that I did have on something and I wanted something better because even what I had left could been leftovers, but it wasn't good! Either way, when it comes to customer versus a business I don't always believe that the customer is always right, but the thing is, even though No. 1 Chinese Food has a predominant company and you know that people will keep coming back and are rated with four stars, does it mean that my situation will not affect your business, because it will! You offered me nothing , but a trashcan to theow the rest of my food away, but then said if I wanted something new that they would charged me two extra dollars. I didn't have the money, but I found it and sone very kind people gave me what I didnthave to make$2. Sooo..I went back in when I had $2 and I got something else. After I paid the $2 and recieved my replacemen, which was Lomain, I then told them bluntly that I've been a customer of theirs and i've ordered there several time, plus I've tipped every time that I've been there, and I said the way that you all have treated me t was uncalled for and that I would never treat a human like you all have! Right then the lady shewed me away with her hand, as though I was a fly! I believe truly believe they could have handled this minor situation much differently! Customer Service is so important and whenyou lack it, youwill eventuallylack as well! I have a business degree and business management, and although I'm homeless I'm not an idiot and I don't deserve to be treated the way that they treated me! It was as though they thought I came in there to scam them for something, which is ridiculous! if da customer doesn't like something and you go to a business and they want to keep their business coming back, I believe businesses' should replace it for a customer regardless of how much they ate or what they say, it's just the way that business runs! So when you shew someone away as though they're less than you..., it makes you, the business owner, the real bad guy! In closing, thank you for replacing my unsatisfying meal for the $2 extra.Initially I gave you $11 for food that wasn't good and you charged me extra. So you know will never be back again and I hope others will see this through too because guess what? Customer Service is key, which No. 1 Chinese lacks does not have....sooooo.. good luck with your business, and although you lack empathy and played your cards wrong, I will forgive you, but wilL never forget how you all treated me! This is my official go to. Being from New York City Especially from the hood. The way I judge a Chinese restaurant is how good are the wings? How good is the fried rice? How good is The lo mein? How good is the beef with broccoli? if all those answers are good then this is The spot. Sure, Tung Hoi has better wings but the rest of the menu is inconsistent . Number 1(at least THIS location) is certified Brooklyn approved.

UPDATE 12-2022: It is with heavy heart that I should have to write this. There has been a shakeup in personnel at this location. In more than 10 years as a regular customer, this location could depend on my family spending at LEAST $70 per week here. I enjoyed being recognized like Norm Petersen when I walked through the door as well as when we called in an order. All of that came to an end in September when not only did I NOT recognize the staff, the lady @ the window was very combative with me. To top it off the afore mentioned wings now had ZERO flavor. So now the familiar friendly service that I had grown accustomed to love is gone, SO IS THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD. Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name - I NO LONGER KNOW THESE PEOPLE, AND THEY DON'T KNOW ME. Not a recipe for success. Food is ok, but what pushes customers away is how the woman at the counter talk to folks. I mean, less than 20 minutes ago I watched this lady treat someone’s grandma so disrespectfully. The lady has to be at least 75. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! The older lady ask for her wings not to be fried hard, and the woman at the counter goes ‘they’re hard! If u don’t like, order something else!!!’ I kid you guys not. This is my third time visiting this restaurant and each time I’ve either personally encountered or actually witnessed someone else encounter this young lady’s disrespect. Why are we continuing to support this place??? These people have no regard for the working class American. If they’re not hanging up on us mid-sentence while trying to make sure they have our orders correct, then they’re talking to our youth and the elderly in OUR COMMUNITY as if we are all beneath them.
