I've passed by this place numerous times over the past few years when traveling along Princess Anne Rd. This place is located in front of the Woodtide Shopping Center on Princess Anne Rd.
When you come inside, the place is pretty basic looking for a restaurant, which is fitting for this type of restaurant. We were seated immediately when we came in. Our server came over immediately, welcomed us, and asked us for our drink orders. Since we had just sat down, we wanted to look over what was available first.
A few minutes later, our server came back and we were ready for the drink order, as well as what we would have for dinner. When she did come back, she also brought a basket with napkins and wipes. For dinner, I decided to go with the pulled pork dinner, which includes garlic bread and two sides. For the sides, I chose the fries and their BBQ baked beans. After about 8-10 minutes, the food came out, which is a reasonable amount of time. The pulled pork was good. They have multiple sauces you can use to put on it. One is a sweet sauce; one with the yellow is a mustard based sauce, and the one in red is hot sauce (don't get that confused with ketchup). The fries were good, along with the baked beans. One thing that caught my attention was that the amount of pulled pork was a small portion compared to the price. I've had pulled pork at other places with much more on the plate for less cost than it was here.
After the meal, our server asked if we wanted to have dessert. We ended up getting the coconut cream pie. Others that have been here have said the pie was to die for. After trying it out. that was definitely the case. The coconut cream pie was the highlight of the visit.
In the end, everything turned out well here. There wasn't anything that would lead me to give a rating above three stars. However, had the portion size of the pulled pork been larger, I would have likely gone up to the four star rating due to the amazing coconut cream pie. Since this was based on my first time here, I'd likely give this place a chance again...
Read moreThis is probably my favorite place for baby Back Ribs right now. They slow smoke the ribs and then grill them a bit. So you get that great smokey flavor and a little crisp and char from the grill.
They have a sweet BBQ and a mildly spicy BBQ. If you mix them together they make the perfect BBQ sauce.
NOTE: This is a place you should dine in vs. door dash. I would be cautious about delivery reviews becuase you don't know how far the food traveled before it was eaten. Also we all know the taste of food declines when it travels. I'm not saying don't do delivery, just understand that your food will not taste the same as eating it there... They have their smokers right out back and you can smell them working as you pull up. honestly you're doing yourself a disservice by getting this delivered.
The mac and cheese was homemade. (Admittedly I've seen the mac and cheese change up over the years from homemade to box-like and back). This time is was homemade. I think the greens may have been canned , but that doesn't matter when you know how to cook. They had the right flavor. I typically enjoy the greenbeans.
I've had the brisket, it's very good, but different than what you may be most familiar with. My wife is addicted to their fish sandwich. The pulled pork is great. I'm not ahuge fan of the smoked turkey, but I've rearely liked it anywhere.
This is a great place for lunch or dinner. I originally gave it a 4 for atmosphere, but that's just due to my taste in decor. It doesn't look bad or anything, maybe a little dated. For a BBQ place it's actually on par or even a little nicer than most. Again you may feel different based on your taste. The bathrooms are dated, but extremely and surprisingly cleaner than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised by that.
The staff is very welcoming and highly attentive. Management is friendly and always says hello. The prices are very fair. I highly reccomend.
The only disappointment I had today was that I ordered half a rack of ribs instead of a full rack...
This is one of my...
Read moreI go by this place all the time and have heard mixed reviews on it. I thought I would give it a try when we had some family in town and I didn't feel like cooking. I should have just cooked. I've never in my life had so much dry food. Everything was dry. I didn't know you could make ribs this dry. The pulled pork was so dry I thought it was microwaved. I don't know if this was old food from days before or what but I was so embarrassed. I had to hear about it from my entire family all night. The next day. 2 weeks later I'm still hearing about it. Now every time we drive by it, I have to hear about it again and again. How do you dry out chicken? I had no idea that was even possible. The dollar drafts didn't help but so much. Actually, the one thing we all agreed on was the French fries. Those were actually kind of good. Of course I'm guessing they were store bought and not made in house. They had 3 sauces labeled differently but they all looked and tasted the exact same. The waitresses are very friendly and eager to please, unfortunately the food is not. I really hate leaving bad reviews but this was downright offensive. I miss the days of Frankie's. Even the macaroni and cheese was hard and cold. How did they ruin mac n cheese? So the highlights of this place are the French fries, the dollar drafts, and the friendly waitstaff. If you're looking for French fries and beer, this is your place. If you're looking for anything else, I would recommend Froggies on Shore drive. It may be on the other side of town, but...
