UPDATED - not even two hours have gone by and Hamza called me himself to apologize! I am floored. His sincere appreciation and apology more than makes up for the two employees we dealt with on Sunday. He promised that had he been there our experience would not have happened and the two employees are fired. He offered me free food but also the promise that he would always take care of his customers. For that, he has turned me leaving for life into staying a loyal customer for life. Thanks!
Original post - For a while I ordered from Sal’s regularly. I loved the pizza - but in my case the service during my last order was so awful that I refuse to go back. There are way too many pizzerias in this area to choose from for them to be so rude. On Sunday June 24, 2018, I placed my order through the Slice app as usual. I ordered a standard medium menu pizza (no additions or changes) and got my email confirming a 45 minute wait. Until now I have never had an issue with the delivery time estimate. After an hour and no pizza (remember this was only one medium pizza), I called. A young man very rudely told me “We are busy. It’s on the way.” He may have muttered “sorry,” but his tone told a very different story. He acted as if I shouldn’t even expect my simple order to arrive on time. After 15 more minutes (now 30 minutes late), I called again and got the same response. At this point I began to ask “is this really how you address customers?” I couldn’t finish because he hung up on me! At this point I was so mad. I have worked in customer service most of my life and I understand how stressful and frustrating it can be sometimes. However, his tone was already crossing the line, but to hang up on a customer? No way. Not acceptable. But that’s not even the end. My boyfriend ended up calling back, and the same man hung up on him as well. So now a FOURTH time we called back and asked for the manager. The manager all but denied that his employee would have done that. During all this time, neither of them once offered a sincere apology for our almost double wait time for what ended up being a cold pizza. The rudeness was one thing, but to hang up on a customer multiple times as if they are not providing you with means to employment is the end. And the manager was just as bad for denying it happened at all. As I previously stated, there are many other establishments that will gladly treat a rational, understanding, loyal, PAYING customer...
Read moreI moved to Virginia in 1982 from New Jersey and since then it has been hard to find good NY style pizza in the area and I am not a big fan of franchise pizza (Pizza Hut, Domino's, etc.). I have dealt with a couple of other places over the years that were good BUT the service was some of the worst ever. One place I used to order from is a perfect example. I placed an order around 7:30 PM and was told I would have it in 35-45 minutes. Two hours later, when I still hadn't received my order I called back only to be rudely spoken to and to be told that they were very busy and that MY order was "in the way". The other place wasn't much better than the first and after reading some of the reviews for THAT place, I am glad that I don't deal with them anymore either. I have eaten at some of your other locations in the past and I have never had any complaints. The same goes for this location (Woodtide Shopping Center) and I am happy to not have to go so far from where I live to enjoy your amazing pizza. i tried this location for the first time on January 3 and ordered the deluxe stromboli. The person who took my order was very pleasant and told me that it would be 45 minutes for delivery. Half hour later my order was delivered and as always the food was amazing. Tonight I ordered 2 pizzas and service was once again excellent right down to prompt delivery. You have definitely gained me as a customer and blow away your competition. Keep up the good work.Update. this place is ver unprofessional. Tried to playace an order for delivery and was told by the owner that they had no drivers. Owner was perfectly capable of making and delivering my order...
Read moreI finally found one! I have NEVER been a fan of NY style pizza. I'd tried it in a few places & never found it appetizing (the sauce was weak, the crust was soggy, the pizza way too greasy) but this place came really well recommended so I figured, why not? I got a build your own pizza & the garlic cheesey bread and WOW. The crust was crisp & not soggy, with a really good thickness & texture to it. Not overly greasy, & the sauce actually had a presence on the flavor in contrast to what I've had elsewhere. The garlic cheesey bread was also INCREDIBLE. It comes with a tomato sauce on the side but it honestly doesn't need it, it's better on its own.
I also got a cannoli- admittedly with low expectations. Everytime I'd ever ordered cannolis & other pizza places or restaurants they were always terrible. The flavor was too sugary almost like icing, the shells weren't filled in the middle, they were overpriced etc. But these looked so good in the review pictures I decided to give it a shot. At first I was on the fence by the price (6.99 for one) but they were worth every penny! They were filled all the way through, they don't skimp on the filling and the filing was amazing. It was creamy, not overly sugary, with a good amount of chocolate chips. I'd come back just for the cannolis. Definitely give this place a try, it's unassuming & tucked a way, but...
