I'll begin with THE SCONES.
Nothing else I say matters a bit because of those lusciously sweet incredibly perfect scones!
You can order them separately for other occasions, too! đ
The prices were very reasonable considering you do leave feeling full. We felt full and brought leftovers home, too.
Also, the staff was courteous and attentive...
What a country-cottage-quaint meets-wealthy-high tea experience... a winner of a marketing idea and in a great location.
A bit snug with the tables and for those of us who suffer from severe social, and otherwise, anxiety, the fit and clutter (albeit, delicately sweet handpicked inventory) made me very nervous on top of cautiously nervous about handling such a fragile tea experience to begin with.
Not for the faint of heart nor the clumsy, indeed. One false move... đŻ
Though, if you'd benefit from an afternoon retreat into a bit of a Great British Bake Off vibe and sweet relaxation for an hour or two, I highly recommend this place.
The Tea For Two allows each customer their very own pot full of tea from a choice of really neat tea flavors all to themselves!
I suggest the Golden Fruits blend, I thoroughly enjoyed that delicious succulence in a delicate teacup.
But, let's note again, THE SCONES... đ
PSA: Not recommended for the can't sit still, energetic type child, for all the reasons above, here's me hoping to save you a predictable harried experience that I see could totally happen...
5 stars.
That 5th star is still given, even though the dessert portion (which is enticingly titled "Bakers Choice") was not made from scratch but processed factory products.
I duly recognize the current state of humanity making luxuries like more employees quite difficult.
FYI: The services are by reservation only on their Facebook or by calling ahead.
It's an enchanting little slice of traditional English borne Heaven, however snug and...
Read moreWhat a What a disappointing experience! I reserved a table for 4 to celebrate Motherâs Day yesterday. Three of us drove from Chesapeake while the 4th guest drove all the way from DC!!!! Once seated, we were told by the waitress that there was only ONE choice from the menu!!! What a disgrace really! We proceeded to order our tea. However, we were then told that the Lavender Rose tea that two of us ordered was low and that we would have to share a pot. Then there was the food! A centerpiece arrived with ONE piece of each choice per person!!! OMG.....it cost $15.50 a head!! Youâve got to be kidding me! But, apparently you were not because a joke of a bill arrived for which I reluctantly paid. There was no excuse for such a humiliating experience! If someone has a âfamily emergencyâ there should have been backup. Every business should have a contingency plan!
This was by far the worst Motherâs Day decision!! Never again will I walk into the English Rose Tea Room, and I will dissuade others from doing the same. This will be posted on a public review platform as well.
Happy...
Read moreGosh, I enjoyed this place! The sense of place is beautifully achieved: the mismatched wooden furniture, the floral china, the wall decor, the hats, it's all there. There are so many lovely teas to choose from, you are sure to want to return. If you come for High Tea, 1. be sure to make a reservation. 2. Come hungry. The amount of wondrous things that come on their High Tea service is quite generous. Bring a group of friends, don't be in a hurry. Enjoy this indulgent taste of English aristocracy. Pop into the bathroom and choose from the marvelous heap of fancy hats. Go ahead, make it extra fun. The mother daughter team that run this little gem create something particularly special. Sherry will great you with that warmth of a favorite aunt with a gift for hospitality and making you feel special. Her daughter creates such an array of tasty and beautiful options. The most day I went, the two scones were a coconut and a lemon blueberry. The Devonshire cream is perfection. Allow yourself some time to read the full page tea menuâso many that sound so good.
