Holy hell. Avoid at all cost We are in from Cali, looking for a good breakfast. Had promise from the reviews, left pissed off. Hash browns 1. Are not hashbrowns, they are homefries. 2. Those were so over fries my husband had to stab at them 4 to 5 times showing me. 3. Literal left a pool of oil under them. Next his eggs, barely cooked to scramble swimming in oil Now on to my breakfast. My fresh fruit showed up covered in powder sugar, negating the healthy sugars and muting those berries flavor. My cheese came with an omelette. Yes I wrote that correctly. I was able to pull a 2inch by an inch chunk off of the omelette. That still left me with the correct portion of cheese to omelette. My husband has years of working in restaurants, he is picky about service. The service was horrid. One waitress was wearing so much perfume that all I could taste was the chemicals of scent. The main waitress, when we were paying finally asked how it was. My husband started with my omelette, didn't even get his sentence finished concerning my cheese. "That is how we do it." So feedback from customers is met with hostility. One more thing, as a baker my self and a cook, you would think a place would have breads on the menu if your going to call yourself the bread box. Or at a minimum a quiche to showcase you actually bake and can create from the post days breads. Or even a bread pudding if stalking bread and pouring an omelette over it is too difficult. Honestly its not that hard to do a...

We were a group of 4. We ordered stuff cabbage, pancakes, half a sandwich with soup, and a full sandwich with soup. We waited over an hour for our food. When we received our food, we received half a sandwich instead of a full sandwich as the waitress claimed, “I assumed that you wanted a half sandwich”. However, this was not the waitress that took our order. One person did not eat all their stuffed cabbage because she did not like the taste. The waitress took her cabbage away and we overheard the waitress and the chef speaking and he said, “Box it up and I will take it home.” When we mentioned how disgusting that was, the waitress claimed, “We would never do that.” The atmosphere was not great, the service was close, and the idea of someone taking food that we already ate (not to mention this person started feeling sick while eating the food) is completely disgusting and not appropriate for a food establishment to do. The health services will be contacted because that is disgusting and who knows how clean they are. If I could do 0...

Our Sunday brunch at the Bread box left much to be desired.

Our waitress was inattentive through the experience and over taxed. Our drinks were filled only by the other server on staff and dishes were left un-bussed. While the food was delicious, it was marred by the over 30 mint check time for a waffle and omelet. Any our server made no effort to explain the delay or offer bread to tide us over, as she did with an adjacent table she was clearly more familiar and attentive with. The menu is also deceptive when listing the waffles as "four" when in actuality it is just one waffle cut into 4 pieces. We were also overcharged for our side of sausage.

Insult was added to injury when out 'waitress" did not bring us a check and we had to hunt her down behind the register. She then ran our card and walked of, requiring the other server to approach and finish the transaction after a few minutes passed. While the food here is good, the sub par service will make me hesitate before I pick Bread Box for brunch...

Food was great. We had a beginner server (which we didn’t know) and they failed to mention that they had a kids menu. The kids menu is on the table in the little display, and we were not instructed to look at that so we had to figure out what to order for the kids and it cost a lot more than it should have. My wife ordered a side of sweet potato pancakes and it was $3.90 on the menu and pointed at it. He put in the order for a full stack and we were charged for that. What was brought was a side plate of pancakes…nothing else. And I clarified with the server that it was a side of pancakes before eating them. He said yes it was. So we ate them. The bill showed the full stack charge of course. And it took 3 managers to tell the story of what happened. Then finally they changed the bill. I highly recommend this place even though our experience was strange. It’s not an ideal place to take the family but I’d say it would have been way better if we would have known they had a kids menu.

The Bread Box Café is a VB Blvd. Hidden Gem! The perfect breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot for a diverse and delicious menu. This café has a small town, locals hideout feel to it that reminds me of the diner in shows like Gilmore Girls or Schitt’s Creek. Ezma is a sweetheart and goes around to each table taking orders and making conversation. At any point you’ll hear “good to see you again Mr. John” or “Mr. Bill come back soon!” She is so personable and remembers every patron who comes to her establishment. The service is always a little chaotic and wait times will vary, but it really adds to the charm of the place. Each time I’ve dined here, there are regulars and newcomers alike who are all fans of the food they order. Almost everything is house made, and the freshness of the focaccia bread, baked goods, etc. truly brings a piece of Europe to Virginia Beach. Family owned since 2002 with homemade breads and soups daily! I highly recommend the Bread Box Café.

It has a very modest and inviting atmosphere with several canvas photos of the owner and family. Warm wood tables and chairs invite a long stay, but the chairs become uncomfortable after about an hour(we were a large group). The menu promises a wide variety of foods that are served at all times; so much great-sounding food on the menu that it keeps me wanting to return to try something new. It would be difficult to exhaust all the options in short order. I ordered the breadbox sampler with fruit and multigrain toast. The toast is made in-house and tastes amazing. The plate offered a large amount of fruit and very well-made eggs with cheddar. The meal prices range on the average of $15 without a drink, so expect to pay about $20 per person or a, and that’s without tip. That seemed a little high to me, but the food was very fresh and extremely well-made so it was worth the cost. Definitely a place I'll be returning to dine.
