This No, 1 Taco is located in the Parkway Shopping Center. The shopping center this place is attached to is located at the corner of Princess Anne Rd. and Lynnhaven Parkway. It can be deceiving to find the location as there wasn't a sign above for it. Instead, the name shown is still from the old place. So, if you are looking for the place in the shopping center, you will want to find Five Spice Kitchen (between Kung Fu Tea and Pizza Hut). My visit here was on January 9, 2022.
After doing some close up searching, I was finally able to find the place. This place is attached to the Kung Fu Tea. I found out that the original place before, Five Spice Kitchen, didn't go too well, which was owned by the ones who own the Kung Fu Tea. No. 1 Taco is not connected in terms of ownership with King Fu Tea. They just share the space.
Once I came inside, I could see that both places are in a shared space. The left side is the Kung Fu Tea and the right side is the No. 1 Taco. The first thing I did was look over the menu board up top while someone else in front of me was ordering. I was already planning to eat this at home. After the one in from was done, I was ready to order, and I went with the Chicken Burrito. The food is definitely California style, as it has the meat of choice, fries, pico de gallo, fresh guacamole, and cheese. Because everything is made fresh to order, it did take a little while for it to be ready, but the wait wasn't that bad in the end.
After getting home and opening up the burrito, it was huge. It was still nice and hot too. It was finally time to dig in. I haven't had a burrito like this before, or at least that I can remember. The burrito was really good. I could tell when I was eating that the ingredients were fresh and not sitting around for a while. There was good flavor to this as well. Don't let the price shock you because the portion size is large and could really have multiple meals out of one burrito.
Overall, this was a really good first visit. The service was good, the food was great and also a huge size. The menu may be small and limited, but I think most anyone can still find something to eat. When I come back in the future, I think I will try one of the quesadilla options next time. If you happen to be in the area and are hungry, this is definitely a place...
Read moreIf you want to know what Tex Mex food is then this is the place to go. I hate that every single "Mexican" restaurant in VA tries to act like they are real. THEY ARE NOT. I am from Southern Arizona and lived in Southern San Diego, most of the places here are not Mexican food restaurants they are Hispanic food resturants, it's like trying to call Panda Express real Chinese food! Look this place looks to be ran by some Real Mexican that understand Mexican food and they will not change the awsome authentic food to cater for poor taste buds. LOL I have gone to Jose Tequila once and that was because it was my first time ever when I first got here 3 years ago and never have been back since, the fact that Jose Tequilla tried to serve me some refried beans that I knew came straight from a can made me wanna throw up! I know Mexican food, hell I use to eat in Mexico all the time, I wish they served real Menudo but I found out that here in VA they dont make it or sell it because not enough ppl eat it because of the local taste buds. Look support NO1. TACO, no I dont know the owner nor do I owe them a favor. But I know good Mexican food when I taste it and this is the place. I have been to soo many places here and they do not compare to this place. Authenticity is key Virginia, Imagine going some where and they served "Authentic Chesapeake Blue Crabs" and instead you get some trash tasting imitation crabs to suit the taste buds of the locals! Yeah that's how I feel when it comes to Mexican food here in VA, so thank GOD for NO1 Taco or I would be one very sad Hispanic Man. There is another place here I need to review them they do pertty good West Coast LA Mexican sea food. Also Virginia dont ever go to Mexico or any southern state bordering Mexico and ask for the "white sauce" that is not a thing and you might get something else...
Read moreMy husband and I just spoke with the store owner Jennifer about our illnesses we acquired after eating at this establishment yesterday evening, May 24th. My husband, my self, and our Son started to feel ill to our stomachs a few hours later. This morning May 25th, we are all nauseous and have had bouts of diarrhea. I called the restaurant shortly after opening a short while ago. Jennifer proceeded to tell me that no other customers called complaining of sickness. She also stated that perhaps we ate something earlier in the day that made us sick or something we cooked at home. She then went on to tell me that food borne illnesses take place 24 to 48 hours after consumption. I am a licensed Registered Nurse, and this is not true. While I can't speak to any other customers that did not call to complain of the restaurant's food making them sick, I can only speak for my family that we know for certain we became sick just a few short hours after consumption. Every person's body and responses are different, and Jennifer chose to generalize an unfortunate yet common response to food illness as a way to invalidate our experience. As Jennifer continued to talk over me and become increasingly defensive, she eventually asked me what I wanted her to do. I replied to refund the order, and she said she couldn't do that. My husband took on the call then, and still no resolution, only defensiveness. At the very least, we did not even receive an apology nor a thank you for choosing their restaurant. The total disregard is an absolute gob smack. It is absolutely unbelievable that this establishment would even begin to treat paying customers this way. Honestly, the food was delicious. This was our first time eating from this establishment. Unfortunately, it was the...
