Yukai Japanese & Seafood Buffet — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

Came in to the establishment for a party of 4 waiting for my friend and her kids to come meet me to grab dinner. It was about 845 or 850pm. I was asked if they were coming because i was seated by myself and i said yes they are on the way. I was seated my waitress came and i was asked what drink i would like and got a water. As i waiting for the rest of my party i went and got my food its a buffet so of course i went to eat while i wait. As time went by its now going on 9:05pm and i kept being asked if my partyt was coming repeatedly by a different waitiress that wasnt my original waitress and was told that the eatablishment closed at 930pm in front of everybody and i felt embarass because i was literally on the phone with my party so the other waitress not mine would know that they were around the corner. As my party had arrived i went to the front and told them that i was going to go get my party outside cause again she has her 2 kids with her so her carrying the car seat and the baby and diapper bag and the other baby with her she clearly needed help carrying everything inside. Before i walked out to go get them i showed the ladies at the front i was on facetime with them so they can see that my party was outside. As i walked to go get my party and still on the phone with them the same other waitress walked out behind me and i told her that my party was outside the car with the headlights on. As we are now both walking up to my parties car for whatever reason i now feel harrased and then seen another employee behind her and i asked why were we being followed if we were coming back in and now we are going back im fourth in the parking lot my party is still on the phone and felt uncomfortable and now dont want to come eat. So i let the waitress that wasnt mine originially know that they did not want to come in now because of how rude they were so i went back inside and sat at my same table and then my waitress the original one came and brought me the bill and iand asked again if my party was coming and i paid my bill and told her that my party was outside but because the other waitress was ao disrespectful and rude and could be heard over the phone that they did not want to eat here any longer and that is the reason why my waitress will not be getting a tip and asked for the manager. I then walked to the front and the same other guy the walked out with the waitress outside to get my party was at the front came to find out he was one of the managers and asked him why was i being followed as if they were profiling me like i wasnt going to pay. They then act like they didnt know how to speak english but one think forsure they know how to speak money. Anyway he got up and left and another manager came and i explained to her the situation and she was his wife and wasnt trying to here what was going on. And was now told a different storybas far as them not letting people in anylong after 9pm even though mu waitresss said it was fine. Also informed them of how the other waitress was rude next thing i know the other waitress walks up they all got to laughing and i was then irrate because of how professional they were and also that my party was not able to eat because of the service. As i then asked for corporate or a higher up number to be able to speak with a higher up to let them know how everything went on and was handled both the managers started being disrespctful and now being threatend that they going to call the police even though i paid my bill already and just wanted to speak to someone about how we were treated. After it is now closing time i waited to get the number and they still never gave it to me now i am leaving this review. Never in my life have i ever felt so humilitated, racially profiled and harrased in my life i will not be...

Updated 10/7/23 So we cautiously ventured back, on a Saturday at 6 this time, hoping for a better experience overall since we have really enjoyed this place for years. I'm happy to say that we had a REALLY great time with better than ever hot and fresh, Delicious food (busy=fresh for sure). The waiter was attentive and efficient as always. This visit took the negative feeling away from me from the previous visit, and I'm thankful. We will absolutely continue to come back here, just at busier times versus the last 2 hours of the night. My favorite sushi on the bar tonight was the eel. It was so fresh that it still was a little warm, and it honestly tasted like it came from a sit down sushi restaurant. As always, there, coconut shrimp is my absolute favorite! Again, don't be nervous about coming when they are busy. When they are busy they keep food coming hot & fresh!

___12/8/22 It has been A LONG TIME since we have been here... well over a year. It was yummy & fresh with many choices that felt more like a sushi restaurant than a buffet. They also had multiple seafood items like blue crab ... plus still the Chinese and the habatchi grill they fresh prepare. The desserts were good. The had signs that they added bubble tea to the menu, which my daughter loves. The only negative- we went at 8:40... they close at 10. They were already actively rearranging the sushi bar, condensing and removing decor in a way that felt like it was all about to disappear (Although there was still available sushi on the bar). They were also mopping and cleaning very intently around us. It was distracting; I kept feeling like they were closing any minute and kept checking my watch. Also, my husband is sensitive to many chenicals, so while I didn't enjoy having them mop right up to our table on each side and smelling the cleaning smells while I ate, it was actually very stressful for my husband as he worried if suddenly his body was going to have a physical reaction to it.

I asked them to please not come so close by us and explained about his chemical sensitivityand they said they were not going to go right next to us, but they clearly didn't understand that it could cause him a real problem because they still basically came within a foot or so of us on each side :(. At one point the smell was really strong - but Kuddos to the restaurant it was not a chemical with additional scents added.... so although it was unpleasant, he was OK.

I totally get that they were slow and I'm good with businesses using the time to clean and move foward for their night, but it was all a little too much, too close to us and felt too intense for it to be an enjoyable meal. I will not come back again if it has to be after 8/8:30 for that reason. That said, the waitress stayed totally tuned in to us, checked on us, noticed when we put the plates to the side and when we were done. I did not feel forgotten in the process of feeling like they were about to close.

I would still highly recommend them! I removed one star from the total and service because of the rushed feeling and not really getting to enjoy our meal in the way I would have liked. The actual service of the food was 5 star. The food was still great! _ 2019 My family has been coming here since they open. They consistently have great food and a clean location. I love the variety of sushi that they offer. It goes beyond a Chinese bar that throws on a little bit of sushi. They also have a great selection of Chinese and other hot food items as well as several great fruits and desserts and icream at the end that my kids love! For all of your food options as well as what you were getting I think the price is very fair. There's always something for everyone and they keep the buffet...

First off let me share that i do not usually go to this place for obvious reason most local's will understand in the 757 area. This place is a cheap place let's be honest some of the food is edible but most of it is gross and sitting out far to long. My friend and I decided to eat there this evening since it's Sunday. Unfortunately the staff failed to advise us and i am sure many other guests of the fact they are charging almost 30 dollars for this overcrowded and stressful environment and like i said just because you can sallow some of the food doesn't mean it good. Anyways we couldn't get our waitress who we had no issue with to check us out. We then decided to get up and go to her since we were waiting for such a long time. Then my friend noticed how it was almost 70 dollars for our buffet dinner and we both felt like that was way off. So we asked her and the only response was " it's cause of the holiday " " not my job you go to the cashier ". And really i was confused because we were just asking for a explanation not to see management? Then when we told the manager we were sent to him. He was RUDE AS H3LL. He and his other staff who wasn't involved nor needed to be because again we didn't have a problem paying we just wanted to understand. Again our answer from him and some other lady was " well everyone else up charges for father's day" " we put up good signs and we can't tell everyone " I checked to see the signs they were referring to and Infact they were there however they were not that noticeable and we even admitted that we missed the signs. They laughed at us had a attitude all because we wanted a explanation. Like ma'am sir not everyone up charges for a small holiday in America like fathers day NOT EVRYWHERE NOR SHOULD EVERYWHERE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE ONE OF THE WORST BUFFETS . Now i stood quietly and watch this man laugh and be rude and them try to justify their actions. Welp I'll tell viewers of this specific review help your self out and go to a real restaurant if your paying almost 30 dollars for some food might as well make sure it's good and you won't be disrespected by a group of individuals who are mad they had to actually deal...
