2 Jefes Tex- Mex — Restaurant in Virginia

Being thankful is something we naturally think of around Thanksgiving—but anytime is a good time for expressing gratitude. After all, the power of gratitude to uplift and connect us goes beyond any one season. Anytime we’re mindful about gratitude, we do wonders for our own outlook and mental health.

When we take the time to express appreciation, we deepen our relationships with the people around us. And “practicing” gratitude really does make us better at it: The more we look for people and things to appreciate, the more we find.

For those of you who might not know me my name is Dustin I’m 40 years old with a disability called cerebral palsy. I recently moved to this area back in January with my service dog and we came across this restaurant at first it was just a normal restaurant where I just had to get some food and stuff like that. However, since I have been going there often on, I have met some really nice people like José, Orlando, Christian, and most importantly Jorge they all have welcomed me and my service dog Tia with open arms I recommend this place, because not only do they have good food, but they look out for their own. They just don’t look out for their own, but they help people in need like myself, I’m on disability and I have other situations going on, and they have been nothing but kind, respectful, helpful, and most of all friendly. Jorge always comes up to me and shakes my hand and talks to me. He always goes above and beyond to help me out same with the other guys They always make sure I have food in my building and I leave happy. So I recommend this place because they truly are there for the community no matter if you’re a part of their culture or not they are always stepping up to help someone in need and that means a lot to me so that’s my reason why you should check out this restaurant yes they have a good food but more importantly, they have good hearts, and they have good helping hands to where they want to help people. Orlando and the staff are rock stars. All the different ceviches they serve our wonderful and done right. the 8 different ceviches are between 12 and 14 dollars. And honestly with the quality of seafood in the presentation and so forth you'd expect to pay 16 -18 dollars for this. Below is a picture of the octopus ceviche accompanied with a pickled onion salad, a dollop of a spicy pepper puree, chopped sweet potato , avacado and a ramekin of a wonderful vinaigrette with just a hint of lemon.

Another appetizer we love is their fresh fried calamari always super tender and never chewy for 10 bucks that's accompanied by a homemade marinara and a thousand island ish sauce.

At 2 Jefes their meat quality is very good. Honestly when I go to Tex-Mex places and have fajitas I stay away from the (beef) carne asada because it's either too fatty, too chewy or just not a good piece of meat. At two Jefes when I'm looking at any type of meat dish I'm looking straight at the beef dishes ..... Whether it's their street tacos, the street burrito, fajitas or The ranchero New York strip steak topped with chopped onion peppers and a hint of garlic at 24 bucks the meat is always cooked properly on their flame grill which gives the meat just a little hint of char. Which just adds to the flavor.

The bottom line is that everything we've had is always been just a little bit better than everybody else out there in a Tex-Mex world. They just give it a little extra effort to make the dishes just a little bit more flavorful and enjoyable..... For example they're refried beans are made in house from beans that are smashed and seasoned inhouse and not like everybody else straight out of the freaking can supplied by Sysco.

We had dinner here on Saturday night around 630. I'm in-between not saying anything to selfishly keep this place to ourselves and wondering how this place isn't absolutely packed, knowing it should be. The food was great, we got the chips and queso (not my favorite queso cause I'm a white queso sort of gal but was still very good, I'd guess the chile/Velveeta style which is still a solid 7/10 in my book), the chicken enchiladas (phenomenal), and the beef enchiladas (also fantastic). But the shining star of this place is their service. Everyone was so nice, we had like 4-5 smiling waiters and waitresses stopping by to top off our cups, bring our food, collect our plates, ask if we need anything... it feels like what you want a family owned restaurant that loves feeding people good food to feel like, if that makes sense.
