We would go to the Centreville Bonchon location at least 2-3 times a week (because we used to love BonChon) so when the Gainesville location opened, we were super excited.
When we got there, there were people leaving because they waited too long, looking fairly upset. It was very disorganized (they said it's because it's understaffed- then they shouldn't have opened if they weren't ready.)
The chicken is usually pretty dry at BonChon so we ask for extra sauce whenever we go. The Centreville location does it for us every time, no problem.
When we went to pick it up at the Gainesville location this time, it was clearly still dry. Like someone air fried it. We asked for more sauce and an employee (glasses, Male, asian) said he can't do it because that's the policy for "every location"- what the heck are you talking about? Centreville does it all the time.
Then he started going off saying that he would have to charge us extra if we wanted more sauce- and that he was already doing a lot not charging us extra the first time we asked for more sauce over the phone when we ordered. Like he was doing us a favor.
I don't understand why we have to be forced to eat the chicken dry- if that's your "policy", it's very inconsistent because that guy is clearly WRONG- we've gone to other locations and were never charged more for some freaking sauce.
And it tastes nothing at ALL like the other locations. Here, we got our usual half and half (we get this at other locations and it always tastes good) and one is extremely salty, and the other tastes like rubber- totally dry. Aren't WE the ones being served? Why do we have to get a lecture from one of your employees?
Please don't have this location open if it's not going to be consistent with what we've SEEN other locations do RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. Don't see why you guys have to go through the trouble of opening another location when the employees are going to be this rude- it just ruins everyone's appetite to have a guy like that around; or if you choose to be rude, at least make the food meet...
Read moreCame for lunch (missed the lunch hour by 13 mins so I couldn't order off the lunch menu) understood.
They are finally open! I was surprised to find. Seems like they were building it for years.
It was my first time at this location, normally I go to Centerville, which has hands down been my favorite bonchon.
I always get the wings but this time wanted to try something different. I got the bull dak. Which is just chicken, rice cakes, and onions in their special spicy sauce, it was abselutly delicious. A good amount of spice but not overwhelming.
The seasoned fries were the same as other locations. Very good. With parmasan on top
As for seating, it seems to be quite limited, they could definitely make better use of the available space.
Ide have to come back and try the wings since it appears that's what everyone has a problem with. Otherwise it's a great, prompt place to come grab some lunch!
Update: came to try to wings, decided. On boneless as I normally get the bone-in. Very weird flat shape, they Arnt normal boneless wings youde expect which are more rounded. They also were lacking the crisp I've come to love from bonchon. Ide reccomend you get the bone-in, havnt tried it but they boneless were quite disappointing. Flavor was on point! But lacking in other...
Read moreI really wanted to give this place a 5 star review. Manassas location is on point but this place????? AWFUL. Read previous reviews knowing it doesn't have a great reputation but with other locations being so good, I had to at least give it the benefit of the doubt. Well they failed miserably.
First thing I noticed is that there was maybe 2 tables set up inside. The rest of the tables were covered in plastic, chairs stacked to the ceiling, hallway was filled with their paper products inventory. Looked more like a storage room then a restaurant.
Service was friendly and quick, that was the only plus. I guess since there wasn't anyone in there, service would be quick.
Ordered soy garlic tenders and seasoned fries. 35$ for soggy fries and super dry, over cooked, tasteless tenders. And the tenders were tiny! I seriously thought for a second....wait.. did I order nuggets?
Definitely not worth the high cost for the low quality food.
I tried to like it, tried to give it a shot, but everyone else is right. Skip this location and...
