Five Guys — Restaurant in Gainesville

Ordered for curbside pickup after a long day of work and my sons baseball game. When I ordered , it showed that it would be ready within fifteen minutes which is great. I ordered through the app and did all the steps saying “I’m on my way” “I’m here” but the thing is we waited in the car for 32 minutes wondering what was going on….. i decided to go inside to see my milkshakes sitting beside a hot grill melting, and my food in a bag getting cold. I asked politely “hey I’ve been at curbside pick up for the past thirty minutes- the name is Morgan Spencer. Can you check?” The kid told me “we’re short staffed.” Okay i understand as I work in healthcare and understand the staff shortage but wow! My phone number was clearly on the receipt. Someone should have called me to let me know curbside ordering was not available and that i would need to come pick it up. I wouldn’t have minded! But sitting in the front of the store at curbside only to be ignored by all the employees, with my family waiting to eat dinner was just absolutely uncalled for! I spent $60 on three burgers and three milkshakes. We showed up at 8:12 willing to wait and didn’t leave until 8:40… that’s NOT okay. GET BETTER ATTENTIVE STAFF. Called in and placed an order to hope that it was ready when I got there but realized that it makes no difference calling in. It might be a disadvantage calling in because your order will not be in their ordering list. The cooks will only start the order if one of them hears your name being called out by the cashier to notify them you are there for your order. None of the cooks heard my name being called out during a rush of orders being made and I had to wait 18 minutes to realize that people way behind me in line were getting their order before me.

I can tell the cooks are great at their job and quick at making the orders. This establishment just needs a different system to start the orders placed on the phone. If only my name was heard in the beginning, then my son and husband wouldn’t have to wait so...

While Five Guys in general seems to have really gone up in price, it's actually comparable to other quality burger places like Habit Burger. This is especially true when you factor in Five Guys has something like 23 topping that they offer at no additional charge. I visited here on a Friday and they had my burger and fries ready in no time. They were well staffed and looked ready for a crowd. The server was friendly and courteous. Both the burger and fries were good (and are consistently so) and my order was correct. They have the "free style" coke machine which lets you select what soda you want as well as variations. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean and orderly. It's a nice place to visit for a quick bite. Bonus: they have shelled peanuts in the dining area to snack on...
