I come here for the fajitas. They've got the usual suspects, steak and chicken, plus shrimp or chorizo, but I really love the barbecue.
It's a half rack of typical American style barbecue ribs, plenty of meat and some fat, plus the usual fajita fixings like sour cream and guacamole. It all goes together great, and after your three fully stuffed barbecue tortillas, you'll have some ribs and sauteed onions and peppers on the plate. Super filling and tasty.
I also find their chips addicting, even though every place offers something like this. They're never stale, sometimes still warm, while the salsa is chunky and fresh and a chilled. Ask for the green habanero salsa also, it's really tart and spicy and a little sweet.
I've also had the grilled chicken burrito with tomatillo sauce and quite liked it. Honestly that entire meal is similar to the fajitas, except the melted cheese on top and the chicken itself. Unlike the chicken for the fajitas, which is pretty typical grilled breast meat, the burrito shredded chicken has a sharp marinated flavor the jumps right out.
Service is always completely on point, with multiple people making sure you have chips, salsa, water, and a cleared table. Everything comes out within minutes, every time. The staff is friendly and you're never left standing around waiting to get seated.
I guess the only thing I might improve is, it's usually a little loud and there's no privacy or booths. When sitting outside the music is a bit too loud. The furniture and decor are not fancy, but also not cheap. Otherwise the place is just about perfect. Prices are reasonable for...
Read moreIt was Taco Tuesday and I was in the mood for some tacos. A coworker recommended this restaurant and said it was a great place to take your family for Tex-Mex. I ordered the $18 taco plate, I chose one chorizo one carnitas and one steak. While waiting I was given free chips and salsa, The salsa was delicious. A little watery but very homemade tasting.
I got the taco plate and was very disappointed. The meat seem to have been overcooked, In the chorizo didn't taste like chorizo, It tasted like how dog food smelled. I made a comment to the server about the off taste and she looked at me, smiled and said okay then walked away. The restaurant wasn't very busy at that time as I had shown up after the lunch rush. Maybe they don't do tacos very well and everything else okay but these tacos were thumbs down the worst tacos I've ever had. I think I'd have been better off going to Taco Bell across the street. I don't think I'd have been so upset if the plate wasn't so expensive. This kind of meal should have cost less than $10 not $20 before tipping. My only other complaint was when I was done eating I had to wait for about 15 minutes until my check could come to my table so I could...
Read moreThis is NOT Tex-Mex. I recently moved here to VA from San Antonio, Texas (born and raised) and I am Mexican-American. I came in with co-workers that are from here and one of them said the food was really good. I guess it's good for people who haven't had authentic Tex-Mex food. The food was decent (more authentic Mexican than Tex-Mex). My gripe is with the waitresses. Upon entering the hostess was nice, but there was a particular waitress that was giving me very dirty looks. I literally had just walked in. I didn't appreciate that. Fortunately, she wasn't our waitress. Then, towards the end of our meal, 4 servers were staring at our table and obviously talking about us. 2 were male and 2 were female, including our waitress. Then, one of those male servers came and picked up the check holders from our table. That is very rude! 2 others in my party said that exact same thing right after he did that. Basically just rushing us out of there. I would have been a repeat customer, even if just for the nachos and margaritas, had I not had this experience. I will not go to an establishment where I feel I am not welcomed. This was at the...
