For reference, the order was 2 small cups (2 scoops), 1 medium cup (3 scoops), 1 medium cup with 3 toppings.
Of all the Bruster’s ice cream shops in the area, this is the worst one. The inconsistency is very aggravating. I don’t understand how a “small cup” (2 scoops), and a “medium cup” (3 scoops), are exactly the same amount of ice cream served in the exact same size cup… and then try asking for your ice cream to be put in one of the plastic bowls… deer in headlights. It’s like you just asked them to explain quantum physics. This isn’t a one time issue, either. It’s almost every time.
I don’t believe for one second that they are stuffing 3 scoops and 3 toppings into the same size cup as a small with no toppings, and then they put a cap on it (to go order) and it makes a complete mess. You order 3 scoops with toppings at any other location and it comes in a plastic bowl without having to ask, and it’s delicious and looks great.
You’re telling me that they (stone ridge) are putting that same amount of ice cream and toppings into the same cup as a small? No way.
They are either giving 3 partial scoops, or 2 scoops and charging for 3. Either way, it’s the same amount of ice cream for small or medium, but, they charge more for medium. It’s a rip off… and then they want a tip.
The ice cream is ice cream. It’s good, just like every other location. The difference is at the 4 other locations I’ve been to in the area, the level of service and quality of your order are so...
Read moreCame with much anticipation despite my sister's previous experience (mediocre dairy Oreo, mint choco chip okay but nothing special). I should've listened to her instead of reviewers on here. I don't know why others are saying the ice cream is creamy. It's more icy and solid--lacking that smoothness and creaminess from more milkfat or butter fat. Flavours are flat, artificial, and too sweet--and this is coming from a sugar fiend. Also, they don't give out samples. Maybe this review would've been more positive if I were able to sample and find something I actually liked. 🤷🏻♀️
Non-dairy Oreo has a passing whisper of oatmilk flavour, and the Oreo cookies are lacking richness, as if they came from a stale pack of Oreos (2/5). Butter pecan has pecans so sweet they gave me a toothache and ice cream with only a hint of butter. At least they were whole pecans (1.75/5). Southern banana pudding is alright: tasted more like banana extract than real banana, but at least there's flavour there. Good texture with the Nilla wafer bits (3/5). Blueberry cheesecake is on the sweeter side but decent. Reminds me of the Trader Joe's ice cream but more expensive (3/5).
Skip the scoops and just go get 3/2 qt of Tillamook or pint of Häagen-Dazs in the Harris Teeter next door for the same price. Service was great though. The young ladies working the cash register were super nice, patient, and helped me decide what to get since I couldn't sample anything. Keep up the amazing...
Read moreIs this yet another highly acclaimed all-american ice cream chain set to lead the retail ice cream consumer sector? Time will tell.
The standout feature Bruster's seems to bring are new and interesting ice cream flavors like Kaju Draksh and Horchata .... utterly fantastic. New flavors seem to be different depending on the location and a whole heck more interesting than the typical fusion of diabetes-inducing suger-on-sweet hodge-podge of flavors like chocolate+cookie, peanut butter+butterflinger, and cotton candy explosion(!?!). The typical menu fair features cones, cup, shakes or sundaes as the usual vehicles for delivery from seller to your mouth.
Both Kaju Draksh and Horchata tasted new and fresh .... but also cloyingly sweet after licking down half a scoop. Let's not kid ourselves, ice cream in America can be less sweet to allow actual flavors to shine. I hope Bruster's brings more interesting flavors to the menu in the future to keep things fresh --- and flavors with less deliberately added sugars. Feels like Bruster's is bringing the Americana home-town flavors to you, which is great. And if Bruster's wants to see me visit these home town flavors as a repeat customer, I hope the number of new, fresh, and interesting flavors (like lychee, logan, sweet cream, durian, mangosteen, red bean, purple potatoe, hōjicha) will grace Bruster's...
