Chic N Fish — Restaurant in Virginia

Update: I first made a 5 star review for this place 11 years ago. I recently was in the area and wanted to try it again and I was a little disgusted.

I called and placed my order 30 minutes before arriving to the restaurant, because I knew the Korean Fried Chicken Wings took a long time to cook. I get to the restaurant and my order is not ready. No big deal. I can wait. I go to the mens restroom. There is no soap in the dispenser or soap present. The soap in the wall dispenser has been replaced with water as if the owners were just trying to get every last cent out of the remaining soap. Next, outside of the restroom on a table where one of the owners usually sits and does work, there is just a packet of chicken legs sitting on the table. Raw unrefrigerated chicken legs just sitting on the table. Kind of unsanitary that it's just sitting there, but okay, I try and give the place the benefit of the doubt at this point just for nostalgia.

I walk back to the front counter and one of the owners then informs me that they are having issues with their fryer and it would be another 30 mins minimum before they can complete my order. At that point I just cancel it and leave. Really disappointed to see this establishment like this. It didn't seem the cleanest inside anymore either. The owners are an older couple, but maybe it's time they retire the business.

11 years ago (5 Stars): Well, I'm new to the Newport area and was looking for some good seafood so I decided to check out this place. I went there and ordered the Fish & 5 Jumbo Shrimp Dinner. I wasn't disappointed at all. The fish, I believe was whiting, was fried to perfection with a light crunchy coating as well as the shrimp. Neither were excessively oily. It was just as I expected. The dinner came with two sides so I got french fries and coleslaw. The fries was just a basic crinkle cut, but the coleslaw had a nice sweet taste to it.

The place wasn't too big, but it had a nice clean atmosphere about it. Even though it was close to closing time, there were still plenty of people inside still trying to get food. Overall, I will definitely be making my way back to this restaurant this summer. I would...

Not typically friendly or generous place, compared to other Korean restaurants I know. This place does not give enough pickled radish side dish for amount of wings you order. The owner gives 3 small containers of radish for 40 wings. This might not sound a big deal if you are not a fan of pickled radish so for some people this might not matter or not be a big issue when eating fried chicken. You get a radish or cole slaw side dish for 8 wings (an order) so you should get 5 radish for 40 wings. I think the owner charged me 1.95 dollars for radish when I asked to give me one more besides the 3 she gave me. Korean fried chicken tastes good though. However still below...

The WITCH that works there is the most rudest person I've ever met. This TRASHY place sells double fried fries..I literally watched her pick up a hand full of fries from the tray of already fried COLD fries and refried them.... and they were the most greasy soggy fries I've ever seen. Then she stood in my face and lied saying she didn't do it. The chicken wings were TRASHY as hell also... This trifling MONEY HUNGRY company should be shut down! They only care about profit over anything else! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!... IF YOU WANT TRASHY FOOD FROM A NASTY ATTITUDE WITCH......
