Tried this place for the first time the other day. I had a craving for cinnamon buns and didnât feel like making my own. Yes, I love cinnamon buns enough to have my own perfected recipe. My love for them goes back to childhood having Cinnabon in the mall but peaked about 20 years ago when Entenmannâs made those giant buns for sale in grocery stores. It was a sad day when they stopped making them which is why I needed my own recipe. There is a very specific flavor and cinnamon/sugar ratio. Not to mention the right amount of gooey icing.
Now about Cinnamonster, understanding I never expected them to meet or beat my own recipe, there was some issues I believe you should know about if youâre expecting something specific like what I was. First, the appearance. If you look at their website or even my own pictures these buns seem like they will be perfect. They look big and filled with gooey cinnamon and icing. They seem to be exactly what you would want, by appearance. But unfortunately, looks are all these have, and they have missed the mark on their flavor profile. Now if you donât normally eat buns that often you will probably enjoy these and not know what youâre missing. But if you, like me, have a specific traditional flavor youâre expecting, prepare to be disappointed. Now I will say this was my first time at Cinnamonster and maybe someone was off their game and didnât prepare the buns right. I do expect to visit again soon to test this, but here are the problems I see.
First and most noticeable was the initial flavor. I didnât taste cinnamon, and I didnât taste sugar. What I got was what I believe was an overly buttery flavor. However, Iâm not sure it was real butter, it had an almost lemony flavor to it. Inspecting the bun, it was clear the reason for this was because the filling was not spread fully on the dough before rolling. This left the outer rings light on flavor. Some parts even had no filling and was all bread. You could see the bare patches if you unrolled the bun. This is my only complaint of the actual construction of the bun. The rest of my issue is simply about quantity of ingredients. These buns need more flavor, meaning more filling and more icing. I would say they need to at least double everything to fix these things. I ordered a four pack and did share with other who also noticed these issues, so at least I know it wasnât my own bias.
I recommend these only if you canât find a better bakery somewhere or make your own. However, they are on the better end of the spectrum as far as commercialize cinnamon buns are concerned. But thatâs a low...
Read moreMy wife and the kids love the cinnamon rolls from this place that's in the mall, but every time that I want some coffee they say they don't have any or it's not ready and I ask them if they can make some and they just don't want to serve any coffee, then maybe they should stop advertising it on their drink menu if it's that difficult to have any! I revisited the same place in march of 2017 and the same thing happened the lady that was on duty that day. Told they didn't have any coffe and she told that the food court had coffee lol. Dude take your...
Read moreI always love coming home to Cinnamonster when Iâm in Virginia at Chesterfield Towncenter. However, today the owner (I guess) stood to the side to drink his personal coffee and touched on his phone . When he walked over to prepare my cinnamon buns, he failed to hand sanitize or wash his hands. I asked him to use hand sanitizer he refused, got an attitude and walked off. If he canât use hand sanitizer that he has sitting in the table behind him to please a customer, I refuse to...
