I stopped by Dairy Queen today for lunch after about six months, craving some cheese curds. As I waited for my order (which was prepared promptly—kudos to the team!), I stood near the soda dispenser and witnessed a truly beautiful interaction between a customer and a young woman working behind the counter.
According to my receipt, her name was Kristen, though I didn’t check her name tag to confirm. Regardless, this young woman displayed an incredible level of patience, kindness, and professionalism. The customer she was assisting seemed to be going through a difficult time—he appeared unsettled, anxious, and jumpy. While he wasn’t disruptive, it was clear that he needed extra guidance, as Kristen had to repeat herself and carefully explain things to him. Despite the challenges, she remained calm, attentive, and compassionate throughout the entire exchange.
In a time when great customer service can feel like a rarity, and when many young employees seem disengaged or indifferent, Kristen was the complete opposite. She was present, gracious, and kindhearted—qualities that made a lasting impression on me.
I don’t know who her parents are, but they raised an exceptional young woman. I don’t know who hired her, but they made an excellent choice—and they need more like her. In fact, we all do. Watching her interact with that customer filled me with pride and hope.
So, to Kristen: Thank you. Your kindness did not go unnoticed. You made my day, and I’m certain you make a difference in many others’ as well.
For the record, if her name wasn't Kristen, my order was 21, 2/26/25...
Read moreI didn’t really like the Ira Hoffman Lane DQ in Culpeper. Ordered two Oreo blizzards and a double cheeseburger. I asked her to repeat my order to me, I caught a mistake before heading to window. The girl said I ordered two double cheeseburgers and two Oreo blizzards. I said no youre mistaken, when I told her that, she sounded annoyed and tried to argue! Repeated my order three times to her! I thought it was ok but when I got to the window, two employees said they heard me order two blizzard and two double cheeseburgers. I said no, you didn’t hear me say that. Manager finally was able to correct it and apologized. Manager said they would talk to the employees. It was such a simple fix, just take off one of the double cheeseburgers. Instead tried to argue with me about it like small children. The Oreo blizzard wasn’t great, they didn’t hand them to me upside down. Probably could have requested them free since they didn’t hand upside down. The double cheeseburger didn’t have the condiments I asked for, it didn’t taste good. Had a microwaved taste. They probably threw bun, patty or the whole thing in...
Read moreI recently ordered 2 custom cakes and wasn't satisfied with cake decorator's intrepretation of design. I say interpretation bc it looked nothing like what we discussed. The cake had to be redone twice. After the second attempted, unsatisfied and short on time, I decided it was best to take one from their freezer.
2nd cake I asked for a simple 16 to be placed on design and they put 16th instead. Again not what I discuss with decorator. I called store and was told that they were sorry I wasn't happy with their cake n if they can fix it. Um no, I said I needed it that day for my daughters birthday. How was I going to bring it back. By this point I was so disappointed I told them to address this matter with their manager and decorator. She took my name bc I told her to, n said sorry again. I didnt get a call from manager or anyone with concerns about my experience. I will not be ordering any cakes from there. Customer satisfaction is essential for quality of product and this Diary Queen did not...
