My daughter and I stopped for supper at about 7 Sunday night, 3 hours from home on a long day trip. She and her family had eaten there, when they lived closer, and enjoyed "amazing" Mac and cheese. On our way north in the morning, we'd made up our minds to stop by for supper on our way home. When we were seated, the waitress took our drink order, a sweet tea, and a milk. We received 2 sweet teas, mine was warm, had about an inch of ice, and was cloudy, like they attempted to chill it too soon after brewing. When she came to take our dinner order, she realized she brought the wrong drink, and fixed it. We ordered the Mac and cheese we had waited all day for, but they didn't have it. That was all we came for. My daughter then tried for buffalo thighs, that was also unavailable. She finally settled for a patty melt, the waitress looked at her like she had 3 heads. Obviously, the waitress was a bit unfamiliar with the menu. My general back up is a Reuben, which my daughter mentioned was on the menu. The food was ok, but disappointing after not being able to get what we really wanted. This was my first visit, I doubt we'll be going by again on our future trips north to see my son in the hospital in Fairfax. I see other glowing reviews from locals, so I was surprised that our visit seemed disorganized, and incomplete. The gal that served us was pleasant, and tried, but after a lifetime in and out of the service industry, I was sorely...
Read moreIncredibly disappointing trip. We have eaten at Glory Days restaurants around the Northern VA area at least monthly for years. I have Celiac and require a gluten free meal without cross contamination. Glory Days nationally has a separate kitchen space and has always been able to provide a safe meal before until this visit.
Upon arrival, we requested a gluten free menu. We ordered off of the gluten free menu, clarified that the order was an allergy, and confirmed that we wanted a gf bun. When the meal arrived, I again asked the server if the meal was the gluten free order. The server said yes and walked away. Unfortunately, the sandwich was served on a regular bun. I only found out after eating a few fries that had touched the bun. The server apologized and comped the meal, but I have been sick all night and am incredibly disappointed in one of the only restaurants I feel safe and confident that can adequately provide a safe gluten free meal.
The restaurant was very understaffed. We asked to sit in the patio with our dog and were informed by the kitchen manager, who had been brought in from another location, that outdoor seating was closed due to staffing issues. We had travelled a long way to meet family and were not happy to leave our dog in the car, but we understood. However, not being able to serve appropriate food for an allergy, when allergen-friendly options is a key feature of the chain, is...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this location for the last few years and I really want to give it a 5 star but can’t due to two things that basically just don’t meet the standard of other Glory Days locations I’ve been to over the last 20 years.
The good: the food has been good and consistent. No complaints there. The staff is friendly.
Now the bad:
The service is really hit or miss. On multiple visits I’ve been seated and had to actually go back up to the front to ask for a server. Not ideal, but I get that it can happen. But on multiple visits it seems like a training issue or communication issue between where the hosts are seating guests and the servers realizing they have a new table. Not sure their process but something is just off.
This is an odd thing for me personally to note in a review, but the men’s bathroom is just absolutely disgusting. The urinals reek of old urine as if they haven’t been cleaned in days. It was horrific. It was apparent the restroom had not been cleaned for a day or two or more, or at least not properly cleaned. I mean, I’m a guy who’s lived in a fraternity house and with male roommates so I’m not overly judgmental but good lord almighty this was an atrocity and boarder line war crime level. Hopefully they can get that improved. It’s an easy fix.
Despite the negatives, I’ll definitely be coming back. It’s one of my favorite spots in Culpeper and my family also really...
