-Summary-
If you're in the area, it's definitely worth visiting. The food was exceptional, portions were generous, and the staff was quite friendly. My only notable nitpick is that the dining area feels cluttered.
(Actual review below) -Food-
Ordered: 1x Cheeseburger 2x Double Bacon Cheeseburger 1x Large Cheese Fries 1x Large Strawberry Shake 1x Small Vanilla Cone with Sprinkles
As said before, the food was exceptional. The burgers, while cooked well-done, were juicy, with a crispy sear on the outside. The fresh veggies, toasted buns, and patty sizes were notable.
The fries were cooked well, had just enough seasoning, and a HEFTY amount of cheese sauce. The cheese sauce itself was pretty good, but the quality of it wasn't quite there (though for the price, this is reasonable).
The vanilla cone was flavorful, comparable to Dairy Queen. The small cone was huge, the sprinkles weren't skimped on, and the staff conveniently put it in a plastic drip protector to well...avoid dripping.
The strawberry shake was amazing, it wasn't overly sweet and even had real strawberries. However, I do wish it came with a wider straw, the strawberry chunks kept blocking the straw.
-Service-
The staff was extremely friendly; we were welcomed upon entry, and they were patient despite us taking almost 5 minutes to look over the menu. The order was taken correctly, the food was prepared correctly, and it took less than 15 minutes to get the food out to us.
They were quite accommodating; they were more than happy to get me extra mayo for my burger when I asked for it and they offered to wait on preparing the ice cream until we were done with the meal.
-Atmosphere-
It's an inviting, family oriented, late 20th century style ice cream parlor, that feels no less than home when you walk through the door.
As another review stated, there was excessive signage and arguably too much stuff in the dining area (ex. claw machine). There are large, beautiful, open windows, though I wish we could see in and out of them without obstruction.
We didn't sit outdoors, but there is outdoor seating that looked well...
Read moreThe Avalanches were okay. We bith had a medium and it cost us $15. The ice cream was good. And that was the best part of our experience. My husband had the mint oreo Avalanche (they're take on a Blizzard), and I ordered the oreo Avalanche. Both were flavorful and creamy. They were melting very fast, to be expected on a hot day. They melted so fast they were liquid in every bite, causing a very sticky mess. The young lady who was at the counter stated she had just eaten one and had very sticky fingers. I wanted to tell her she should wash them! The young lady who took our order may have been irritated by something else, but she made us feel as though we were bothering her by taking our time to order. We stood back in case any other patrons came in to order. She stared at us. We mentioned it was our first visit, but we weren't greeted with suggestions or even a smile. I walked back inside after getting our order to ask for a couple of straws because they had turned to liquid. I was asked, "Why do you need them?" by another young lady who was working but socializing with her boyfriend at the time. I replied, "we had ordered a couple of shakes and were just going to drink them instead." I was handed to regular size straws (as opposed to milkshake width), and that was that. We made a special trip out of our way to try this place and probably won't return unless we happen to be in the area and decide to give it another shot. We should have at least tried a hot donut. There are cute areas, mostly in shaded spots, to sit and enjoy your treat outside. There was a good size menu of other simple to make and fried...
Read moreI ordered a birthday cake for my daughter. She wanted vanilla cake with butter pecan ice cream. When I went to order the cake, I was informed(rather nastily) that butter pecan was not one of the flavors offered for the ice cream cake. So I asked for vanilla ice cream & was begrudgingly offered pecans added to the cake. I picked up the cake on Sunday because my daughter's birthday was on Monday & the shop is closed on Monday & Tuesday. On Monday(my daughter's birthday), I discover the cake is not vanilla cake or vanilla ice cream- it's chocolate. I go back to the shop on Wed. when they reopen & show the manager a picture of the cake. I politely explained that I had ordered a vanilla cake & vanilla ice cream. There were pecans on top of the cake, but the inside was chocolate cookies & cream. There was no customer service offering to correct the situation. Instead, I was met with an attitude & defensiveness " I made the cake, so I know how it was made". This came from the lady with the wavy blonde hair I believe is the manager(owner) I will no longer patronize Donutz on a Stick due to the attitude & unhelpfulness of the manager. Prior to this situation, I patronized this establishment frequently- 2-3x /week. I have informed numerous friends & family to no longer patronize this...
