El Patio Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Virginia

My food was awesome!! Love the chimichanga, my husbands enchilada was super salty I could never have ate as much as he did of it but we both was disappointed. The service was okay at best. She was friendly everytime she came to the table but my drink was empty way longer then I would have liked for it to be. Not once but twice. Being a server myself the key is to keep the drinks filled. And the customer happy. But instead our waitress was hanging out near the hallway in the kitchen hanging out with another employee giggling and goofing off. Which is completely fine... when your tables are taken care of. I personally love to see fun loving work environments, but I also thank the customer deserves more attention then we was given. It wont keep us from coming back that's for sure cause el patio is one of my favorite places to eat. But the service just wasnt the best this time. And the enchilada was way to salty. The food here is still the best around, but the service has gotten bad to the point that the food can't make up for it. For example, today I had to hunt down my own silverware, I didn't get a straw with my drink, my order was wrong (even after speaking slow and pointing to the menu and the server speaking it back to me. Even then, I got something totally different from what I actually ordered), and to top it all off, I had to hunt down a leftovers box myself. While this is the first time my order has been wrong, it's about the 5th time I've had do everything else, which is how I knew where the silverware, straws, and leftovers boxes were. The only explanation I can think of for the severe degradation of service is that there must be new management. Because the old manager had the place running like a Swiss watch and I haven't seen...

The service definitely leaves a bit to be desired here. It was a little slow getting a table, and the server didn't seem talkative or too keen on seeing how we were doing. However, no one was rude, as some of the reviews have said, and I cannot in good conscience rate this any less than 5 stars because of the food. I've lived in Johnson City and Abingdon, and I've been to just about every Mexican restaurant in between. This one is by far the best. I got traditional pork tacos, and they had the juiciest pork I've ever gotten at a place like this. Everything from the salsa bar was wonderful, especially their mango salsa, and my boyfriend said his chimichanga was the best he'd had by a wide margin. We are absolutely going to come here and only here for Mexican food from now on, even if the service isn't...
