Gelati Celesti Ice Cream — Restaurant in Virginia

The ice cream is amazing but my experience was the complete opposite. My husband and I were the only customers in the store. We ordered a toddler vanilla waffle cone and a small strawberry coconut waffle cone. There was a younger employee with short, pink, curly hair who assisted us. She made the understandable mistake of providing me with a cup instead of a waffle cone however the manner of how she corrected the error is baffling. After I explained to her that I initially requested a waffle cone, she apologized and offered to make a new one or to give me the cone on the side. I advised that a new order wasn’t necessary and requested that she remove the ice cream from the cup and place it into the cone. Instead, she returned to the counter with the waffle cone inside of a drinking cup. There’s no way that my request could’ve been misunderstood a second time. It's not gelato, which is fine. That was a misunderstanding on my part, not a misrepresentation on theirs. The ice cream was served at a good temperature, they don't skimp on the portion, and they were willing to split up my small into two different flavors. I do think there is a small room for improvement because even though I got a cake cone, it's not their practice to push the ice cream down into the cone so there is some maintenance required once you receive your cone for a properly stuffed cake cone. Simple mush with the ice cream scoop doesn't really do the trick. That being said, the ice cream is good enough that they do deserve five stars. Oh my sweet creamy stars this stuff is amazing! Today I indulged in a cup of Dark Chocolate Orange at Gelati Celesti I savored every spoonful of the smooth sweet silky sensational goodness! My taste buds sang! It was a perfect balance of semi bitter chocolate and sweet orange. My only regret is that I ordered the small cup and not the large. Warning: this gelato is highly addictive! They had a decent selection of flavors available, and the service was top notch. You can bet your sweet tooth I'll be back the next time I'm in Richmond! Hopefully they will have the Lemon Lavender...
