Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken & Wings — Restaurant in Virginia

My family and I came here on a ramdom night to eat. After my experience wint be coming back. We got to the cash register and were greeted, as we had never been there we took a moment to look at the menu. We asked for a recommendation and got a dry "I don't know, I mean the chicken sandwich and.... Something I can't remember... We then asked if you were to eat here what would you eat, she gave her answer but it didn't have chicken. We came to a chicken place for chicken, so I ordered the loaded fries and my husband the chicken and waffles with some sauce. The waffle fries were so dam dry, over cooked, and so hard they crunched. It was topped with cheese, some sauce, and chicken. The chicken was ok but felt over cooked. My husbands tenders were dry and cover cooked and the waffle tasted like it came out of the microwave. We unfortunately just ate it, didn't want to have to wait anymore. At this point we were hungry and also have a 10 month old that we needed to feed.

About and hr later our stomachs were queasy and we just over all felt gross. You can imagine what happened hrs later. We both woke up with food poisoning. Thankfully my child did not as he didn't east any of the chicken or the sauce.

The places are rapidly popping up all over the place and I tried one a couple of years ago and when I recently noticed this location open, I wanted to try this location too. I went on a weekday and it was empty inside, so I was quickly greeted and ordered my food. I tried their wings and their sando combo. The wings done in their smokey BBQ sauce and the heat level on the sandwich was medium.

Their medium is probably more of a medium/hot, definitely has a nice kick to it! I’ll try their hot next time. The smokey BBQ sauce was really tasty and the wings weren’t messy, but perfectly seasoned, crispy (not over-fried) and very meaty and tasty! Definitely some of the best wings I’ve had in the area!

The sandwich was a mess! The heel on the brioche bun was soaked when I immediately got the sandwich and I couldn’t pick up the sandwich to hold it, as my fingers pressed straight thru the soggy heel – yuck! I took a few bits, but ultimately had to fork & knife it to finish eating it. Flavors were really good, with the slaw and their sauce on top. Waffle fries were tasty, but not piping hot (barely warm, in fact) at all.

Overall, nice visit, definitely better than the last...

Sooo disappointed! :( Ive been here a few times before, and the chicken has always been magnificent! This time it was soooo greasy,, I couldn't eat it!

I wrote an unsatisfactory review on the Woodbridge location...thinking that was an isolated occurence, and I thought that the Stafford location would deliver and redeem my thoughts about Hangry Joe's... that it would be the same great-tasting, great experience that I'm used to.

The Woodbridge location...and NOW the Stafford location did not dust the chicken with whatever coating they used -- prior to the last two visits. THAT is what made their chicken/its taste so UNIQUE - like no other chicken I've ever tasted!

I took photos of the GREASE that POOLED in the bottom of the bag and in the very small tray (which was also different - because I'm used to their wings being served in a takeaway BOX, large enough to accommodate the wings).

Service at he register at both locations was great...absolutely no complaints there.

However, my experience has been tarnished by my last couple of visits. I will not try any other location, and will not be returning to the Stafford location. Very...
