Restaurant reopened and allowed people to dine in their patio area. This was nice except for the food. We got our normal routine chips and salsa from the start, but never got any refills until we asked. We also ordered wings for the appetizer (and granted...you don't go to a Mexican restaurant for wings, but since it was on the menu; you'd think there would still be some sort of quality control behind their food, right?- wrong.). The wings were under cooked and tasted terrible. Majority of them weren't even sauced all the way, and you can clearly see that they just dumped sauce on one side of the plate completely missing the other half of wings. I also got a side of carrots with ranch and after biting into one of the carrots, half of them were rotten and mushy. That right there confirmed to me that there was an issue with quality control among the staff in their kitchen. My date also ordered a burrito who she said came with awfully cut steak that had so much gristle on it. It was hard and tough to chew. The chicken was also subpar and hard. I never knew you could make a bland burrito, but they sure as heck surprised me with theirs. The ONLY thing they got right was their margaritas. THAT'S IT. Even their sweet tea was nasty and burnt. Who messes up sweet tea!? I have a friend who works as a health inspector for the city and was told that Mexican restaurants are all more so dirtier than Chinese establishments because they all like to cut corners. What's sad is I find this statement to be true. I've been all over VA due to work, and anytime i'm with friends who suggest Mexican restaurants for meals, I also go in giving them a benefit of a doubt. Maybe that last place WAS trash. Maybe that chef in the kitchen was having a bad day? Nope. No matter where I go, the food is always a plate full of hot garbage. There is no doubt in my mind that they were serving us food that they were frantically trying to get rid of in stock during COVID-19 shut down. We either ate expired food or even close to expiration. One star is too high of a rating for this establishment. Will not...
Read moreTL;DR - All of their food is fantastic. No other restaurant can make Chili Rellenos taste as good as they do! Try one. I think you will agree! (Description in next paragraph)
I have been to almost every Mexican restaurant within the uppermost Northern Virginia counties down to Spotsylvania county, and Pancho Villa is my favorite place to get Chili Rellenos! Their chili rellenos are large, seeds removed, and filled with white Mexican cheeses. They are completely breaded, including breading over the stem. The white cheeses inside are melted to perfection. A very special tasting red Mexican sauce is added after the chili relleno's breading is lightly crispy. For some reason I think the flavor results in a mostly Mexican taste, but with a slight Italian twist. The texture in your mouth is smooth, and the taste is highly likeable, tangy, savory, slightly spicy, and the flavors blend together well. You have to try one to understand how surprisingly delicious they are. I have a feeling that after most people try their chili rellenos, they will want to dine there again!
I've been dining at Pancho Villa restaurants for decades while watching them grow from two strip-mall locations to many single-building restaurants. While their food is excellent ar all of their locations, this restaurant in Stafford is not the best in appearance as compared to their other locations. However, they did what they could to change the old Golden Corral restaurant into something that looks totally different inside. When you first enter the building, you will see an artistically tiled big water fountain that fits the Mexican flair, but it seems too big for the space. They do have a bar for people who want that type of atmosphere. The rest of the restaurant is a good place for family dining. The booths have high wall dividers that I think are too tall, but they do provide some privacy!
For Mexican food, this restaurant gets 5 stars for the food having consistent great tasting quality over...
Read morePlaced a take out order on Sat night at the Stafford VA location at around 9pm as our family has done many times in the past got back home to find 25% of the order was missing called them about it and they said come pick it up with out even an apology. Returned home to eat a cold meal and was willing to let the bad experience go until my wife got unbelievably sick in the early hrs of the morning on Sunday she was in the bathroom throwing up every 30min all day and night untill the point we had to go to the ER for her to be treated for extreme nausea and vomiting and dehydration. Upon calling this restaurant to inform them to what has been going on, there response was it could not be from our food and they would have another manager call me on Monday. So he called and as soon as i answered he was very rude and defensive stating that they sell a lot of food and they go to classes so there is no way at all that my wife got sick from there food. I just want to say how disrespectful and uncaring way to treat a long time customer. Lets get one thing straight I never asked for anything in return for this experience just wanted to make them aware in case there was a problem so no one else would have to go through this. Unfortunately I will NEVER eat here again and I will make sure to tell everyone of the poor experience I had. Mabey you can take a class on how to treat customer's. Shame on you Pancho Villa this is not how you treat...
