Italian Delights Bakery & Deli — Restaurant in Virginia

I found this Italian Deli on a google search as I was looking to have a welcoming dinner at the Yorktown Beach Hotel (in their conference room) where most of our guests (about 50) stayed on Memorial weekend 2023 for my daughter’s wedding on Saturday, that took place a few doors down from hotel. I live in New York so I placed my catering order before I got to Yorktown. Well when I mentioned to the owner of the hotel where I ordered this food, he had nothing but great things to say about this deli. He was so right! My guests along with my husband & I just loved the 4 types of heroes that we ordered along with the delicious homemade potato salad, toss salad & desserts; cannolis, tricolor cookies & assorted tray of cookies; all homemade! The heroes were filled generously with cold cuts. My guests raved about how delicious everything was. Jesse the owner was very helpful, accommodating & most importantly “talented”…she makes it all…& does it sooo deliciously! I highly recommend this deli & not just for a catering order but to have a delicious lunch out! Cute little deli with tables to eat at. You will love it...

In 2020 I bought an Italian Rum Cake for my mother's birthday. This is her favorite cake. It tasted great and looked beautiful. She was very happy. Since that was a good experience, I decided to order a graduation cake this year for my son. Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. I asked for it to say class of 2024. Congratulations Gabriel. The school colors are red and yellow (gold). The cake tasted fine but it was definitely not decorated by a professional. Disappointed and embarrassed, especially for the price. I did not pick up the cake so I could not tell them at the time but I did call to let them know. I asked if the cake decorator was on vacation or something since it was clear that a professional did not decorate the cake. The woman said she was the owner and was a professional. I gave 2 stars since the cake tasted ok but decide for yourself on presentation....as soon as I figure out how to post a picture.

Tip: go in person to order the cake and give them pictures to show them your expectations. But you shouldn't have to tell a professional cake decorator how a sheet cake...

It wasn’t worth the trip. They have limited hours which I can understand but I have been having a craving for desserts and haven’t had any good desserts in ages most places get premade frozen from a big company so when I found this place I was over the moon. I finally got out of work early enough to make it just in time to get some of the desserts and instead of a hello I get “We are closed” I looked at my watch it was 6 minutes till 3 I made it in time and the sign was on. Then when I stated it’s 2:54 pm the tone changed to the grill is closed but the damage was done the rudeness and dismissal was felt. We left right back out the door. I would have happily bought every dessert to sample because this was something I had been looking forward to for over 2 weeks and now I will never step foot in there again. It looks like I’ll have to drive back to Virginia Beach to get any good Italian dessert now even though I was hopeful to finally have something close to home but some people show their true colors. Again do not waste your time driving here it isn’t worth it to be...
