This place hits that nice sweet spot between nostalgic charm and great, simple food. Joeyâs feels like a time capsule, classic black-and-white floors, friendly counter service, and an unmistakable New York hot dog joint vibe, right down to the snappy sausages.
I ordered two Joey Dogs and a Bratwurst, all âall the wayâ which is mustard, onion, and their homemade chili. That snap when you bite into them? Very nice. They use dogs made for them by Usingerâs. I also had the redskin potato salad (loaded with dill, just how I like it) and a scoop of Italian pasta salad, both solid sides but the potato salad was my favorite.
Prices are reasonable, portions are fair, and the whole experience just feels honest and no-frills. Staff was warm and welcoming.
Worth noting: theyâve got Christian-themed decor and worship music playing. Iâm not religious, but it didnât feel pushyâjust part of the vibe. If you are Christian, youâll probably find that aspect especially appealing.
All in all, this is a great little local gem. Iâd...
Read moreJoey's is a classic old school hot dog restaurant found in Innsbrook. With a minimal menu some would think that Joey's would struggle under the lack of choices. They would be wrong. The beauty of Joey's is the minimalist menu. Hot dogs and hot sausages, chips, potato salad, cookies and brownies are what make up the menu and every single one of them are amazing. The hot dogs have the old school snap of hotdog stands. Dress your dog with a number of items mustard, ketchup, chili, .etc. wash it down with some of the most reasonably priced soda at any restaurant in the area.(the large is 1.79). Some might say that the hot dogs are more expensive than the cheaper 2/$1 you find at Sheetz. That is true. However, the are worth every cent that you pay for it. My only complaint is that I live 20 minutes away from Innsbrook. Would love to see a Southside/Midlothian location one day. In the meantime, if you like hotdogs, this needs to be your new...
Read moreJoey's Hot Dogs is a decent place to get, well, a Hot Dog. Its located at the Innsbrook shopping center in the West End of Richmond.
The Hot Dogs themselves are good, although I think you may find better at places such as Boulivard Burger and Brew or Melito's. The time I went there, the people working there seemed hesitant to let me try the the beef franks (which is something Melito's uses exclusively) and instead insisted on using the bork ones.
The dogs were good, do not get me wrong, but as I have stated, I have had better.
The only condiment they have to offer is mustard, which is kind of silly, but understandable, since they seem to come from the camp/motif that insists you should only put mustard on a hot dog. Something to keep in mind if you like ketchup.
It's an alright place to get a lunch, but if you are looking for the best hot dog in Richmond, you may want to look elsewhere. They're definitely good hot...
