Best coffee and sandwich shop in Burke (that I know of). Exceptional coffee selections, sandwiches, and SERVICE. Portions are appropriate to the $, and the food is always fresh (and made to order). You owe it to yourself to try their cheese steaks. I'm not usually a big fan of that type of sandwich, but Lil Cow has made me a believer. They also have many different variations to select from. Try it "spicy", which uses a traditional Korean sauce to kick things up. The owner/manager clearly cares and takes pride in the quality of food/service. We've dined in, taken out, and have had the food delivered with zero issues. Wifi is good and our teenager will frequently stop by in the afternoon for a frap and hour of study. Only complaint ... word has spread quickly and sometimes getting a table can be tricky; it's first-come-first-taken and they do NOT rush you to clear space. They're relatively new and already need a bigger space (take that as a sign...
Read moreWe ordered two drinks and the protein bowl. First off, my partner didn’t like his drink because it was too sweet with the artificial syrup flavor standing out stronger than the espresso. Instead of offering to remake it, which is typically standard for any coffee shop, the guy at the register just charged him for another espresso shot or offered to “add more milk” (that fixes nothing)? and it still didn’t taste good. The coffee doesn’t have a nice espresso taste, it tastes watered down with too much milk. The “Protein Bowl” had stale rice and not nearly enough greens for $13. I’m giving it two stars because I haven’t tried the sandwiches so I can’t speak about that and I do like the atmosphere. But for spending $30+, you’re better off going to Starbucks where they’ll actually have more thoughtful customer service and not what feels like a cash grab on coffee and the salads. We were only ones in the cafe for drinks, so they...
Read moreI found this cafe about two years ago in the early morning and was only able to get a coffee that was quite excellent. While the menu is quite extensive, the options only pertain to lunch and dinner as only pastries are available in the early morning...which, while they look delicious, I'm more of an eggs and bacon kind of guy in the morning.
So, just over a year later, I returned for lunch and dinner, having tried their crispy chicken sandwich and steak and cheese. Once, I brought a friend, and he grabbed a salad that was substantial, solidifying this location as a hidden secret off the beaten path of Burke, VA.
I think what is most impressive is the friendliness of the staff and how the staff/chef checks on you after you have started your meal to see if it is to your liking. I have experienced this check during my last three eat-in visits.
I highly recommend you visit this...
