I grew up in the area, but live in Pennsylvania now. I took my husband to Logan's for the first time two years ago and he fell in love with it. We always make a Logan's dinner date when we're in town - sometimes, we go more than once.
We took my parents with us this past weekend. The first red flag came as the host was seating us. I had my three-month-old in her car seat. He asked if we needed a booster seat. Umm, clearly not. I said no, but I'll take a car seat sling please. He asked what that was. I was a little flabbergasted but explained anyway. He came back 5 minutes later with a sling. He said, "I've never even seen one of these before."
We were seated and ordered drinks. My husband asked the waitress what seasonal beer was on tap. She replied, "I don't know - it's my second day." Didn't offer to check until I asked if she could. She came back a few minutes later and told him what was on tap. He ordered and waited. And waited. And waited. 15 minutes later, she came back and said she misunderstood what the bartender said and they actually didn't have what he ordered. He ordered something else - no biggie.
Thirty minutes later, he still had no beer. She finally came back to the table and I asked. She just turned around and walked off - didn't say anything. Extremely unprofessional. 10 minutes later, she brought him a warm, flat beer that had clearly been sitting on the bar the entire time.
I ordered a salad as a side. She brought it out and slammed it down on the table and said, "we're out of croutons," and walked off again. I got a salad that was brown lettuce and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. At least the dressing was good. After I picked out the slimy and brown bits of lettuce, I was left with about two bites of edible salad.
Then, our order came out. This is the point where we should have just left. I ordered a steak and baked potato - steak cooked medium - with a garlic butter topping. The steak was gray. It was so cold, the garlic butter had solidified in top. My husband also ordered a steak and green beans - steak cooked medium. It was also gray and cold, and completely full of fat. My mom ordered pulled pork sliders. Surprise - also ice cold. They were so dry and completely rock hard. My dad ordered the grilled meatloaf. He actually BENT THE FORK trying to cut a bite off. I was absolutely livid. When the server came back, she asked if everything was okay. I said no, and briefly described the issue. She rolled her eyes and said, "I don't know what you expect me to do - it's my second day." I lost my temper a little bit and said, "I don't care if it's your 800th day - get me your manager."
The "manager" walks over to a neighboring table and they sent him away because they didn't ask for him. It's concerning that a manager doesn't know the table layout. Anyway, I digress. This manager walks up to our table and just stands there staring at me. I said, "are you the manager?" He said "I'm a manager." He looked like a dishwasher at best - honestly. I explained the issues and showed him the food. He offered to remake it, which I declined, because we had already been waiting two hours at this point. He said, "well, how about .. um .. best I can do is half off." I lost my temper again. I said, "you want me to pay HALF for food that is WHOLLY inedible?" He then asked if we would come back and "give them another shot." I asked him if HE would come back and give them another shot after the experience we just had? He got upset and started yelling not worry about it - he'd take care of it - and threw his hands up and walked off. He was standing by the register, congregating with some servers, pointing at our table and talking about us.
I can say - I've never left a restaurant hungry before. I went back to my parents and had a ham sandwich. Not only was the food horrible, the service was abhorrent. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant. After a seven hour road trip, we always look forward to our Logan's date. However, this experience ruined that for us. Do...
Read moreVery lackluster experience. Arrived at 4:45pm on a Saturday evening before any big dinner rush. The place was steady but not overly busy. There were a couple hosts around the host stand as well as our server, Melissa. It was her turn on the rotation, so she took it upon herself to do the host's job for him (there's a reason I mention this that I will get to). She was quite friendly and welcoming, escorting us to our table. She got our drink order as we sat and returned promptly with them. Our order was taken and she mentioned that the rolls would be out shortly. They were still baking in the oven, which I can appreciate hot, fresh bread, but who's supposed to keep check on that sort of thing? There are a few things that are key to great service from anyone who waits tables - attentiveness, UPSALE, offering starters/appetizers to mention a few. A drink refill was about the extent of attentiveness. She didn't offer or suggest getting an appetizer first and I had spent much of my time mulling over my main course selection. I scantily glanced over the starters section. One thing that servers need to have as a foundation in serving is they are there to lead/guide the patron in and through the best possible dining experience they can provide. And any server knows, the more you sell or upsale, the more money you make. The more you look and act like you're there to do that, the more money you make. Being sweet and pretty is fine but it doesn't make people come back especially if their experience doesn't merit a return. My mother ordered a 6 oz sirloin steak, bake potato, and green beans. I ordered 1/2 rack ribs, loaded mashed potatoes, and coleslaw. 20 minutes went by. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. When I returned more rolls had been brought. I was trying to hold off eating more bread so I could enjoy most of my main course. Another 10 minutes went by. My mother was discontent as she hadn't had lunch and was quite hungry. And after another 5 - 7 minutes, our food finally came out sans the green beans my mother had ordered. No explanation was given as to why it took so long except that she (Melissa), didn't know why. Upon receiving our food, she asked if there was anything else she could get for us. My mother asked for A-1 which she brought promptly. We didn't mention the green beans. I shouldn't have to remind servers about items that were ordered. And while there might be a slight oversight or mistake made on occasion, it's the responsibility of the server, food runner, or expeditor to check off every item or specification on the order list BEFORE it leaves the kitchen. My mother's steak looked like a hockey puck and may have been smaller than one. And no green beans. My ribs were just cooked through, not tender nor falling off the bone. The bones weren't completely cooked through. I don't know if they actually smoke their ribs. They need to if they don't. If they are, mine definitely were NOT. Whoever makes the coleslaw uses the core which most cut out and discard. And my loaded mashed potatoes consisted of bacon and cheese, nothing more. It cost an additional $1 for that. Other places I've been incorporate chives, sour cream, or other things that actually LOAD a potato. So it'll be a while before we go back there. Mother says they need to know about these things so they can make the necessary changes. Well here they are. I've been a waiter in several dining venues and levels of service in the course of 20 years off and on. I know how it goes and how it supposed to go. If you're a host, host. If you're a server, serve. If you're a cook, cook. If you're a manager, manage. When everyone plays the part they are hired to play, things...
Read moreFirst time visiting, wasn't overcrowded. The host was very polite as the waitress was as well. She was very attentive to our table. The scenery was nice inside the establishment but I was intrigued why this wasn't crowded. The food, my wife ordered the Filet Mignon ($30) and I ordered the 12 oz. Ribeye ($25). Our three boys ordered the kids Ribs. The steaks were horrible and we could not finish them. The boys Ribs were charred and burnt. The fries weren't bad but it is hard to mess up the fries, the mashed potatoes were good but again the potatoes could've been the cook's strong point. The couple sitting next to us also complained about their steak and salad but agreed that they were proficient with the fries. We did speak with a manager, I wasn't looking for anything free and was more than willing to pay the $135 for the meal even though it was not to our liking. He obliged, apologized and still took $30 off the bill. I questioned the vendor for the steaks to inquire if they sourced their steaks locally but he said they did not and sadly they expect to have a few bad steaks. That was alarming to me with the price point that this establishment seems. For this kind of money, I would expect to have no issues with the quality and cooking process of our steaks. Again, the manager, the waitress nor the host were rude. We also waited over an hour for our food and as noted above this place was in no way overcrowded. I was hoping for a better review for this place but was very disappointed. I would not recommend this...
