Los Toltecos of Sterling — Restaurant in Virginia

Very very disappointing. I've been coming to this restaurant since I first moved here 3years ago it was literally me and my families favorite place to go and that is not the case anymore. I don't know what's going on but it has went so down hill since the last manager was here. Now, if you're not Spanish, don't expect good service. I was literally the only person in the store and the employees just laughed and mocked me. I was literally minding my business and they kept saying stuff to each other in Spanish about me assuming I didn't understand. When i finally got fed up and ask to speak to a manager, I was told she was out of the store getting liquor. Im in the industry so no matter what I always understand and tipped great but this has not been the first and I doubt it will be the last time I get discriminated against here. I'm so hurt and saddened by this cause it's a great location and a good restaurant but the service has went down so much! Please fix it or it won't last. This is coming from a guest who really loved this restaurant. Oh and I still tipped 15% even though I barely got service. You're welcome. I will let everyone know of my experience cause this is so crazy....

Editing my comment to say Thank you for fixing the problem!! Me and my husband came in a few days ago and they made sure to fix everything bad that happened last time. Manager came over and apologized and definitely let me know that's not how they do business. The waiter was gracious and so kind. He's one of my favorites and I'm so glad he's back and training good pple for them!! They are definitely moving in the right direction!! I just wanna personally thank the manager for stepping up and handling everything so perfectly!! We will be back soon!! Thanks again! Should have known better when I saw that it was in a mall. We were seated promptly and got our chips and salsa. The chips were nice but the salsa was kind of thin and didn't have a lot of flavor so I asked the waiter for green chilies or any kind of chilies. He had a bit of an attitude when he said we don't have that. I ordered the enchiladas mexicanas and my companion ordered the chimichangas; I noticed all the chicken on the menu was breast meat. While we were waiting, a woman who may have been management came by and talked to the diners on either side of us about their meals; we didn't have food yet but she could have at least said hello but didn't. The food arrived rather quickly and was beautifully plated. And that was it. Not only did they use flavorless breast meat but there was not a lick of seasoning to be found on any of that food. I tried dousing it with Cholula but it just tasted vinegary not spicy - my dining companion compared it to Crystal hot sauce but Crystal hot sauce is vinegary AND spicy, this wasn't. I was almost disappointed that the food wasn't salty because then at least it would have taste. Our waiter came by three times while we were eating; I can't tell if that were attentiveness or his trying to hurry us out the door. After I gave my payment to the waiter and said I didn't need any change he made a bit of a stank face as we left. I almost wished I could take my tip back. If Karen and Brandon want to take little Taylor and Bryce out for a family dinner that's different but not too crazy, Los Toltecos is the place for you. We had group of 7 people visit this restaurant. I am Hindu by faith and don't eat beef. After making it clear to server that I am vegetarian and asking for suggestions I went for "Garden" Quesadilla.

Being such a popular restaurant , I did not worry about quality and contents. The server was little slow but we didn't mind as we were chatting. In the end when the food came as my habit is to check it , I looked in my "Garden" quesadilla. To my eyes I saw about 2 to 3 inch big piece of "BEEF" which looked like mushroom.

I felt violated as restaurant didn't care much and simply kept mum. I think it is unacceptable from such a chain management / chef to serve food which so much contrary to what has been ordered.

Few points which I concluded.

I ordered "Garden" quesadilla and got one so it was NOT wrong dish. They must not be keeping meat preparation and vegetable cooking separate. That means all vegetables may have meat juice or meat contents from previous / side cooking. Respect for this restaurant went down so much as there was no formal apology by chef or manager given. Attitude was "let me take it back " It is NOT about money /discount / apology. It is simply about trust. They lost it.
