I started going to this movie theater back in 2015. It was my favorite local movie theater and prices were reasonable for a movie theater. The staff was great. There was a mixture of adults and kids in school. My friends and I had a favorite bartender who was amazing. When covid hit I took a little break and stopped coming here from 2020 to 2021. To my surprise things have changed dramatically!!
I have seen four movies here during the last two months. A lot has changed! There is a bartender with a ponytail who hates his job. You can see it with his poor service and attitude. There appears to be an overall lack of training with the staff as well as a staff shortage. One night a manager was cleaning a theater by herself. And, the wait times are very long during off-peak times. I'm talking 11 am to 1 pm. And 8pmish during the weekdays. However, my biggest complaint is the actual condition of the theater.
Jurassic World: Dominion was playing in theater/ auditorium one on July 4th. This theater was by far the worst theater/ auditorium I had ever been in. Especially when you factor in the money paid. The projector had a random bright spot towards the left center of the screen. (See picture) Unfortunately, it allowed the viewer to see the texture of the actual screen through the movie. It started about 2/3's from the bottom of the screen up. It was like I was watching the movie through a wet window. Last but not least, the seating and turning tables are extremely worn. They need to be replaced and/or reupholstered. (See pictures) I don't know if every theater/ auditorium looks like this but this one did.
This is it for my family and I. We will not be coming back to this theater anytime soon.
This post was originally written in 2022. Google asked for an update. Nothing has changed in the theater or my opinion of this place. I went inside a theater and it...
Read moreIt was the first experience for me and my family at Dulles Regal. We arrived an hour early to get our tickets from the box office for a show that was beginning to sell out. We had to settle for the 3rd row towards the front because of five people in our party. Our hope was that with the new style of chairs, sitting close to the front would okay. When we went to sit down, people were already in the seats that we thought we had purchased. We soon discovered that the ticket handler pushed the wrong numbers and gave us the 2nd row by mistake (yep-should of checked them when he handed them to us). Anyway, we stayed and we sat down and leaned back for the previews.
Folks, I don't care how comfortable those seats might be, they just doesn't work that close to the screen. Even though there is ample space to lay back between rows, the angle is still uncomfortable. It seems too provide that extra space to lean back they moved the front rows closer to the screen to fit more seats into the theater. In a manner of 5 trailers our necks/heads felt strained staring upward (which offered a distorted viewing of the trailers) and we were getting blasted out by the speakers to our right (approximately 10-15 feet away-felt like I was at a rock concert).
It was such a negative 15-20 minute experience that we had to leave. It must be noted that the manager was good enough to give us tickets for a future visit at any Regal of our choosing.
I probably will give Dulles Regal another chance down the line, I'll just have to make sure that I check my ticket seating when I purchase it, making sure that it is nowhere near the front. My advice stay away from the first rows, regardless of the seats being reclining seats....same discomfort, only...
Read moreWhere should I start.... as a theater this has been a so so one to come to but today was absolute worst experience I had in any movie theater ever. Let’s start of with the food service. I was able to order my food decent time ahead of my movie (15 mins) which was plenty of time usually but not this time. It took my order to be completed almost 25-30 mins to get my food. I only ordered two items but a mass of orders had them so backed up it was ridiculous (at least several people in front and behind me were all waiting). I had to miss majority of the previews for my show. Next the movie was going well until halfway through Black Panther the screen blacked out while audio continues to play. We waited for at least 5-10 min for this to be fixed and little longer just for them to figure out probably best to rewind the film. And then another 10 mins for second blackout to occur. Seriously? After another 5-10 mins to fix and several people going in and out to keep telling the people to fix this issue, they got film back up for the remainder of the film until it decides to completely black out again this time right before the end credits (which any marvel fan would say is essential to stay for for MCU movies). Overall liked the movie but experience definitely soured for me and would have to question coming to his theater again (especially since the pricing at this theater is already in the expensive side). I would give one star but at least management gave everyone vouchers. Now I need to find my end credit spoilers...
