Mi Patrón — Restaurant in Virginia

Just moved here so I'm a first timer here. I looked at the menu online and it was pretty extensive, so that was encouraging.

I wanted to try a few things, so I ordered a house margarita, the queso fundido, and the quesadilla especial with chicken and mushrooms.

I received the drink and five minutes later, the queso comes out, then another five minutes later the quesadilla shows up.

The queso was clearly just microwaved cheese with some chorizo thrown in. The chorizo was not flavorful at all and the cheese was weirdly runny. See video.

The quesadilla was not served the traditional way. It was served like a huge taco. , and it came with lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream. It was just ok.

The margarita was good. I did see a bartender making a drink and then fishing around in it and taking stuff out of it?? Weird.

Service was fine.

Posting this for any management that might see it. I ordered one fajita Texana at 9:00 on Saturday, November 27. It is actually the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. Veggies were undercooked. Meat was grey and unseasoned. The whole dish was just sad and I could tell the person who made it just didn’t care at all. I work in the industry and there’s absolutely no excuse to serve someone food like that. I’ve had gastrointestinal distress all day as a result as well which makes me question how clean the prep area was or how fresh the meat was. I’m not even mad, I’m just sad that someone can sleep at night knowing they cooked and served that to a customer. I just moved to the area from Bedford which has a great Mi Patron location and was excited to try this one. Safe to say I will not be returning and I advise anyone else to steer well clear. I recently had the pleasure of dining at the new Mi Patron on Waterlick Rd, and I must say, they’ve set the bar incredibly high! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the inviting and vibrant ambiance that perfectly complements the authentic Mexican dining experience.

The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and genuinely eager to make my visit unforgettable. As for the food, it was absolutely outstanding!
