The Mr. Goodies experience at the Boonsboro location spoiled me. The hand dipped scoops of every conceivable variety of ice cream along with the generous helping of toppings made this the ice cream experience of choice in Lynchburg...that is until they closed. I suppose I shouldn't have carried those same expectation to this location...after all, it is just a steal shipping container with an inflatable ice cream cone on top, garnished with some neon lights. Looks can be deceiving however, especially in the confectionary realm. Yet, despite the impressive (and some what dizzying) menu selection, this location would be more aptly named Soft Serve Central. Given the 7:1 ice cream (if you could even call it that) to toppings ratio on a $6 Sunday, I was left somewhat disenchanted. I hate to give this low ranking to any business, and admittingly it was largely due to my own outsized expectation; but I think it would be fair to offer this warning to potential customers...curb your enthusiasm. UPDATE - In light of a well crafted reply, I feel perhaps the above review was not with sufficient caveat. Mr. Goodies, when it comes to soft serve, please understand, it’s not you, it’s me with the hang up. As such I have bumped your ranking by a star. I feel this is sufficient given your very friendly staff and quaint outdoor seating area, reminiscent of a grand Cony Island experience from yesteryear. In the future, when I consider an ice cream run, I will endeavor to be...
Read moreI used to love this place growing up, and in the last few years I have only had bad experiences. Mainly because my order is forgotten about every time I go. I decided to give it one more chance this year after 4 years of resentment towards this place because my two year old saw the giant ice cream cone going down Timberlake, and I thought I’d treat my daughter after daycare. It wasn’t crowded but it wasn’t dead either. I ordered a cone of ice cream for my daughter and myself. Ended up waiting 15-20 minutes while everyone that was behind us received their orders and it’s not like we were out of sight, my daughter and me stayed close to the pick-up window and watched others get their ice cream. I eventually spoke up and one of the girls give me compensation but I left it behind. My once good/hopeful mood was turned to anger, and more resentment and a card that said ‘free ice cream’ wasn't going to fix it. I honesty just wanted an actual apology, and could have done without the freaking card. I understand having to wait; I’ve worked customer service my entire life and have worked in high volume restaurants atmospheres but it’s a disappointment that my childhood hang out has become less than what it used to be in customer service and nothing has seemed to change in 4 years. No apologies, just ‘take the free ice cream card and go’. I am not that desperate for...
Read moreOut Sunday night with the family. Ice cream was good. But, When backing out of my handicap parking spot, a car cut me off and pulled into the hashed off spot next to it (part of the handicap spot). The spot was so tight he had to back up and pull back in to squeeze in there. As I left. I rolled down my window and said "thanks for cutting me off a-hole" his response was " I'm Mr. Goodie" to where I replied " who cares!"
Just because you're Mr. Goodie, you have the right cut me off? And also pull into a spot that's part of my handicap spot. That's a rude, inconsiderate and entitled owner. And I thought New Yorkers were rude. Does Mr. Goodies dislike handicapped people?
Edit: And apparently you only recall what you want to recall. You almost hit me and ended up parking 6 in from my door. If I didn't pull out you would not have been able to open your driver side door. You don't pay attention in your own parking lot. Thank you for showing me. Your. True self and you don't take responsibility for...
